Default Request for Nismo owners - steering lock to lock turns

Hi Gents,

This is a relatively minor request. I am attempting to determine if the steering rack ratio is the same 15.9:1 on Nismo 350's as is on regular 350's.

I am suspecting that it might in fact be 15.1:1 (a bit quicker) and offer a great swap option, however can't find any documentation definitively supporting this. I'm leaning to this faster rack conclusion after coming across a steering rack from a Nismo 350 that looks identical to the 06/07 G35 racks with active steering. Those G's I know for a fact have 15.1:1 racks and there is plenty of documentation to confirm this.

So Gentlemen, if anyone here would be so kind as to count exactly how many turns their Nismo is full opposite lock to full opposite lock I would be immensely thankful. If it's less than a standard 350z or non active steering/rear steering G35, this could be a pretty neat piece of info.

My G35, which uses the same rack as a normal 350z (15.9:1) is at 2 5/8ths lock to lock. A 15.1:1 rack should be at nearly exactly 2.5 turns lock to lock.

(As a side note, it's common to see faster steering racks on more performance geared models, for example the BMW e46 m3 csl has a 14.5:1 ratio vs the normal e46 m3's 15.4:1)

Thanks in advance

I'm gonna say that this is going to be difficult for the average person to notice the difference, unless you can compare a nismo and non-nismo side by side.

Post up pics of a base model steering wheel at each end and then a Nismo, that's probably the only real way. I'll try to snap a pic of mine next time I drive it.

Also, have you considered looking at part #'s through Nissan to see if they show same or different parts for the nismo models?

figured it out ha haha HA!

here are the part numbers for 350z:
49001-CF100 - normal steering rack 15.9:1
49001-CF10A - appears to be the higher rate 15.1:1 (used on VQ35DE models)
49001-EV10A - also looks like its the higher rate 15.1:1 (used on VQ35HR models) and apparently on the Nismo.

Problem is I have yet to confirm that these racks used on the 350z are DEFINITELY 15.1:1 ....i might stop by a local dealer and drop into a Nismo to try and confirm the lock to lock myself.

The G35 coupe:
49001-AC80A - Definitely 15.1:1 ratio steering rack (comes on active steering models)
49001-AM805 - Definitely 15.9:1 ratio steering rack (comes on all non active steering)

So i'm positive on the G35 part numbers, now just for the hell of it i need to find some way to confirm if the 350z models also have the quicker ratio, if not for any other reason than my own sanity.

Those numbers don't seem different enough to matter, do they?
