Very nice. Congratulations and welcome. I see you are thinking of keeping it close to stock with just a few mods. After 8 years of owning a Nismo and extensively modding it, I am here to tell you there are two mods that should be done, and the rest leave it as is and you will be rewarded with a transformed driving experience, even with our Nismo.

1st: Tires. Getting a set of 'extreme summer' tires will take an already amazing performing car and put it on another level. My own choice was a set of Yokohama Advan AD08 tires. Front 245/40/18 (stock) and rear 275/35/19 (1 step wider.) The tires are great for dry summer driving and hold good tread. I recommend these to most the Nismo owners. Paired with our suspension and chassis, the handling and take off are something special.

2nd: Just as you were going to do, the Nismo GT titanium shift ****. I have this mod myself, and as of now it is my favorite mod on the whole car. (Given I changed the tires.) The weighted ****, paired with the pleasing shape and feel make rowing the gears that much more pleasurable. Also, the plus side as well is there wont be any aging to it, unlike the stock leather which can get rough looking.



Anyways, hope to see more from you on here and enjoy the new car! I am very jealous of all these new owners who are buying these low mileage cars and at much better prices than I did purchasing new! lol

I went through the maintenance records, and it looks like the original owner took care of it. That's the issue that caused the clutch pedal to sink to the floor, correct?

I just read some of the above, yeah the slave cylinder will fail more than likely. It is a recall and I would see about having it performed. I would recommend seeing if the zspeed/wilwood slave/master cylinder kit could be installed. I have it on mine, as many do for these cars, and it is a permanent fix to the issue. Not sure if the dealership is a permanent fix, Ive heard of them failing again after the recall fix.

1. I was looking at keeping another set of the stock Bridgestone RE050a or upgrading to the Bridgestone RE-11 (extreme summer performance). The ratings on TireRack for the RE-11 and Advans are fairly identical. Would you still take the Advans over the RE-11? When I drive, it's mainly street, but I do plan on getting some instruction on a track. Was the difference noticeable from going up one step to the 275s?

2. How was the install? It seems pretty straight forward, but a few of the threads I've read said they damaged the OEM **** attempting to remove it.

I was surprised to find mine with the mileage it had, I was set on the Evo IX, but I would've been crazy to pass up on this opportunity. It brings a smile to my face everytime I start it.

 

Tire wise: My experience: Advans are slightly better grip in the summer than the RE-11s. On the reviews (maybe it was tire rack), they said the Advans were as close to an r comp as they've tested. RE-11s are better for all purpose weather. But the Advans (and there is even a better compound now: AD08r) are as good as it gets below an r compound.

The 275s provided a little bit more traction on take off. Plus, the sidewall looks much better on the stock rays and fender well IMO.

The ****, installing is fairly easy, I would take care with the center console though, as it is prone to scratching and chipping. The **** itself, I did without using a wrench, which in hindsight it actually cause the **** not to be situationed 100% correct because the shaft turned under the torque. I would use a wrench to hold the shaft while you untighten the OEM and tighten the titanium ****. It's not nessesary, but the "Nismo" on the **** will be lined up correctly.

There are instructions with pictures on many sites, I would just google to find it.

 

The weather is great, pulled the Z back out for a quick food run. Any excuse to drive, right? haha You know the feeling when you can't sleep the night before an important event? Well, that is what this car does to me day in and day out. A huge smile takes over my face every time I drive it, heck... just starting it and hearing the VQ behind my ears is will do it.

Haha I'm glad you're are enjoying the z as much. I love staring my z up with the remote start in the morning from the 3rd floor of my apartment. I hear that ish growl and it puts a smile in my face everytime I drive it. Even after 8 years wait till you start doing caravans to z meets, omg it's so awesome lol.

This Snapseed app on the iPhone isn't bad, I tried my best. haha One of these days I'll invest in a quality camera. I think I've ruled out tinting the windows, only because I refuse to leave my car in the hands of someone else; it just doesn't feel right.
