Should I sell the whole car or sell for parts ?
I have a 2003 350z that's just about ready to go. It needs $3000 in repairs, it has an oil leak, transmission leak, and the transmission is bad. It's still drivable but the transmission rattles in low rpms. It has 215,000 miles and the engine is still in perfect condition, the oil leak isn't coming directly from the engine. Do you guys suggest I sell it whole (very cheap) or for parts? The body is still in great condition for a 14 year old car

Sell parts if you have time and have the car on a lift or jacks for parts removable.
Sell as a parts car if you don't want to be bothered with it anymore!

I would part it. I think you'll make more. If you sell it as a whole after disclosing to buyers what is wrong, no matter how good of shape the other working parts are, they're going to low-ball you because that failing part is still contained within the car and most people aren't going to want to deal with removing it, so they'll low-ball you to offset the work they'll have to do to it. But if you part it, those working parts will speak for themselves and won't be associated with the vehicle, so you'll make more off of the car in the end.. Just my opinion.

^^This advice assumes the OP has any mechanical skills, tools and someplace to work on the car. The time spent parting it out is a cost as well, and OP may or may not have a lot of it. Even with the parts out, people are still going to ask how many miles are on the original car and (assuming the OP is honest) will want to dicker on the prices of such high mileage components. Finally, no matter how great the bodywork is, a bare shell has limited value. Ask me how I know...

I was never going to ask a lot for it, i don't expect to get more than 1000 for the whole car. I've already started parting out the car, just never had to sell a car in pieces or had to sell one that had a transmission problem. I was asking for advice

I can't remember the name of the guy who designed the DE motor but it was designed and engineered to run for 200,000 miles with regular servicing. Yes we know that there are members who've far exceeded that figure and as you mention your motor has an oil leak, I'm presuming from the rear crank seal.I doubt very much that its box fresh and selling ancillaries from it could be difficult with such high mileage. If you have the time, space and inclination to spend many months stripping it and parting it you may end up with a slightly fatter wallet. Personally I'd just want shot of it and I'd sell it for spares or repair.
