Default Jet Sizes... (dyno graph inside)

so who has ran the biggest jet sizes on their stock bottom end with no problems

i have been running a 53 nitrous with a 28 fuel, 12.3 A/F all the way through the rpms

now i have retarded my timing -4 degrees across the board with my UTEC, i am going to up my jets just a little bit

i am off to the speed shop right now, i will talk to them a bit more about it

probably going to get a .58 with a .32 and try those... hehehe

i have a dyno appointment on friday afternoon at 3, to see exactly where i am at

hopefully i will get four pulls and figure out some more...

ok this will probably be a long post, btw it was 88 degrees here in florida when i went to dyno it today, it was for the purpose of seeing how much nitrous, i had 4 pulls planned and when i got there stuff was taking a while so i only got 3 pulls. i had to figure out which one to ditch, i had to have a nitrous run for sure, i ran one map with the Base Map off Turbo XS site for intake/ exhaust. then i decided to run a map that was previously tuned on the persons car that i bought the utec from, tuned by a local shop. now the problem is i dont have a base run at all, i havent ever dynoed this car. soo... i have to go back one day with more time to see what the utec actually did and have a few trial maps to play with. my mods are.... Skunk2 plenum spacer, underdrive pulleys, injen cold air, test pipes, JIC y pipe, UTEC (not tuned) everything else is stock, stock headers, stock y pipe back exhaust...

not sure what happened to dyno run 1 and 2 but it wasnt on my car

run 3 is with the local tuned shop,

run 4 is the turbo xs base map

run 5 is nitrous run, which is the turbo xs base map minus 3 and 4 degrees timing, (different spots) now notice i lost 25 hp after i let of the nitrous but still had the car floored, now i didnt have my laptop hooked up and i dont have the knock light yet. i have the one step colder iridiums in there and left them at the factory gap, i definently need to make that gap smaller, (.32) because either A: the knock gaurd came on and retard my timing, or B: the plugs got so hot they werent firing right or C: possible something with the nitrous pressure could have happened causing the pressure to change

notice the dip in the middle of the nitrous shot, i could feel it on the dyno so i let off it right after that, i need to drive around with my laptop and datalog a nitrous run and see if the knock retarding guard is turning on.

well the jets i bought werent the right kind, last time i used NOS jets but i think they changed them to a new style because these new ones didnt fit correctly, this run was done with a .52 N and .28 F which equals 100 SHOT or 80 to the wheels for anyone that was curious, now the torque is another story, 170 foot pounds of torque increase is crazy. now wonder i can break loose the tires in 4th gear... hehehe well i am going to still raise my jet sizes up after make sure its not knocking and buy some new plugs and gap them closer... thats my story!!!

sorry my scanner is retarded so i just took a bad picture

Hey man, where did you do the setting for the timing retard? Im pretty much following your footsteps. I did some datalogging today before I put the NOS in. Tomorrow I plan on doing some logging on the bottle. Only running a 75 shot with stock plugs (same basic mods, but full exhaust). Maybe ill just make my friend drive and ride along with the utec.

Nice numbers though, I cant wait to see what you do when you have it all dialed in!

i called turbo xs and asked them if their intake/exhaust basic map timing graph was stock timing or advanced. they said that it was pretty much stock settings. so i put that in and then highlighted the top 4500 rpms and hit Control-U (i believe) then hit minus 3

then highlighted the top 4500 rpms and minus four on that part

its actually one of the settings that you can do if you look on the bottom of the screen after you highlight a block

i lost a lot of horsepower by retarding the timing that much so i would just do yours maybe 1 and 2 degrees

i need to make a few runs with the dashboard on to see if there is anything knocking (which i doubt) but just to make sure

i cant wait till my next dyno run when i actually try to tune the utec more, i am just going to order the Turboxs wideband and do some runs, then dial it in at 13.1 12.8 12.6 12.4 A/F across the board NA and see where i make the most power and of course a base run this time

OH btw change your plugs to one step colder iridiums, the horsepower you lose NA is minimal and much much safer of a setup with N20 good luck man!!

i definitly agree on changing the plugs, its more a measure of safety then anything.
so when do u think that u will be able to head back to the dyno?

i have been working a lot, i want to order the turbo xs wideband and log a couple runs, then try to halfway tune to keep a certain A/F ratio. so it might be a couple weeks before i hit the dyno again.

not sure if i want to up my jets now though cause that is a lot of torque for the stock bottom end...

one reason your seeing that HUGE torq jump is because your spraying so early in the rpm band you went 330 and 410 and sprayed @ 3k on a 100

i did mine last week and made 312 and 360 and sprayed @ 4k on a 100. i dyno'd in 4th gear and the pull felt and sounded perfect, smooth curve, fuel was stable. and i used a 55N/28F and was told by many that this was a 150 or a 150whp jetting and now i see that they were wrong because you used almost the same jetting and made the same whp (80whp). and my car will not even think about braking loose in 3rd or 4th??

if you look back at the other topic i posted that i was gonna run a 68N/30F and that was a 150 shot and everybody was like no no thats alot more?????

the nitrous calculator says 1000psi of bottle pressure, 50-60psi of fuel, v6, for a 150 shot used 66-68N, and a 30-34F??

correct me if im wrong, heres where we talked about jetting

https://my350z.com/forum/nitrous-oxide/171639-edelbrock-kit-results.html

you even said that a 53-55 jettings was 130-135whp, and now you only made 80whp??? see what i mean

not downing or bashing, just trying to get our jetting correct so we can set a example for future users.

and i was shown this last week
