I have a very similar set-up...get a TPS/window switch and plan ahead for your wiring. Other things to get: fuel pressure saftey switch, 1-2 step colder spark plugs...@ a 75 shot, you won't need a N2O controller.

a utec is a good step towards a safe nitrous install, it will act as a tps switch, a rpm window switch and will retard your timing with any knock,

pm me for a good price on utec and all the NX stuff you need.

pm me with a list of what you are looking for and i will help out. i have had nitrous on a couple VQs myself and know a lot about the install...

thanks

sorry, you asked "safe" it would be about the safest...!!!!

to set up a nitrous kit safe it will end up costing you about a 800 for kit, TPS switch and Window rpm switch...

that would be a safe start, you dont really want to cut any corners with nitrous....

Look at the window switch/fuel switch/af switch from DynotuneNitrous

you can have a really "SAFE" setup without the extreme expense of the Utec. People on here have been running nitrous for YEARS without the Utec. Especially a small 75 shot would be no problem. I know personally many vq35's that have run 125 shots stock block for over a year with no problems.

i ran 100-150 shot for two years on two different vqs without a utec. it is much easier to run a utec and have the safety of a knock sensitive timing retard function.

just throwing out options, hell i had mine with just a button with no switches for a while...

Whats the price on the Utec now? I remember it being around 1k before i think.

How complicated is the install for the utec? Does it come with the software so that you can program it from your laptop? Thanks.

I'm at the stage where i'm going to buy a nice Titan truck, but keep the g35. So i'm going to run nitrous again, and if it blows up. I'll get my truck and then start working on the g35 again.

I ran a straight NX kit for a while... then none... then a maximizer, with ALL the little extras.. then and now.. none again.

Not sure if/when i'm going back to nitrous, or if i should do something else.

I want to be in the 400rwhp range. But i dunno.

I'm running a 75 shot and just got my dyno done...AF's in high 11's, 1 step colder plugs - no reason to pay for a tune besides getting a few more HP out of the set.

I'm using the dynotune window/tps switch...it's a small 3"X2"X1" module that can be placed just about anywhere within the car. (I have it in my ash tray). The wires are:

-TPS signal
-Window signal
-Power (12 Vdc)
-ground
-Ch1
-Ch2

...I think that's it. The unit allows you to program different setting for Ch1 and Ch2 (this allows you to control 2 stages of nitrous, or differences between 1st gear launches and the remaining gears). Ch1 and Ch2 are connected to the relay which will supply power to the solenoids.

hope that helps.

I've already got a UTEC. What else do I need in order to make it functions as a tps/window switch? Does Turboxs make a special nitrous solenoid for the UTEC or can I just wire in any generic (NX, etc.) solenoid? I'm not sure when (today, next week, next month) but I will be running nitrous by the end of this year and I want to have a high-end set-up for a 125-150 shot that is as safe as possible (idiot proof).

Other than the items mentioned, what should I be looking for? Bottle heater, remote opener, blow down tube, nitrous pressure gauge? Most people on this board seem to agree that NX is the best brand so I'll most likely go with their product. I've been reading a lot of threads on nitrous but with work full time, school full time, and now SCUBA training I tend to forget what I read.

I'm hoping that I can just open the bottle, set the UTEC to my nitrous map via the remote switch, and let the UTEC (and other equipment) do everything else.
