Talking Ouch!!

this is a customers car that was brought to me, he did the installation himself and there was a problem with the fuel solenoid. this is what nitrous plus a really lean condition can do, it burnt a whole all the way through the piston and welded the piston to the cylinder wall.....

i plan on rebuilding this motor back stronger than ever so he can run 150-250 direct port shot, it will be much more fun that way

keep it safe though....

i didnt think he had one in there, its already been done now so lets not dwell on what he had setup incorrectly or parts malfunctioned and focus on what he will run here in the next month or so with a built bottom end and more nitrous!!

I think that will make a few people concerned about their nitrous kits. This is honestly the first blown motor I have heard of on nitrous in the forum though. Hopefully he will have a lot better luck in the future.

What kind of kit was it? How old were the solenoids?

well people should know what can happen if top of the line products arent used.

this person chose to go with an inexpensive route and something malfunctioned. now he is getting it all setup up with top of the line NX products.

im putting this up here so people will understand that the top of the line products might only cost a hundred or two up front, but save you in the long run...

many many people have nitrous set ups done on here for a long time because they have it installed properly and that will last forever

+1 ...One reason I recommend NX...some ppl say, "nitrous is nitrous". Anyone still think all nitrous systems are equal? Ouch Jeremy! She's in good hands now!

I think you bring up a good point. I don't understand why anyone would want to skimp on quality parts that are going to affect your engine. However, you bring up something VERY interesting.

What about those individuals who buy "quality" engine related parts that are used? For example, I often see used NO2 kits for sale, but no one has posted anything about how to check all the solenoids for an added measure of safety and realibility. Additionally, the wiring, connections and fittings should be checked, double-checked, or even replaced as well.

I think someone with a deep knowledge of NO2 systems should do a write-up on what to look for when considering a used system, or the caveats involved in doing so.

Gambler, there is a how too on nitrous in this forum. Also, there are plenty of threads about nitrous enough, that if someone hasnt found it, then they probably are not searching. I understand what your saying though!

wow, that's crazy. built motor and nitrous sounds fun i feel like i am neglecting my car, i haven't filled my bottle in 4 months.... i am starting to fiend for it, it is truly addicting. as everyone says, if done with good parts and a thorough install, it should last a long time. dyno "tune" is a must after install. ive gone twice to make sure i was running safely. i am also thinking about installing a wideband, just unsure where to mount it so its hidden. thinking about a small digital gauge where the coin holder is.
