Default Nitrous Setup

hey guys, so im thinking bout doing nitrous for my 03 Z. im really noob to it so i have no idea what i should be making sure i get and what i wouldnt need. first of all id like to know the ideal setup. im most likely going to go dynotune kit. i know im gona need a heater. im gona buy the gauge that has the switches that ive seen on the website, and ill get the TPS switch so it activates.

if anyone has installed this on their own, how much work is it? best mounting place, since im thinking of doing the old gymbag trick

i clearly know i have to do my research, so please dont get mad and give me those stupid posts, but i just wanted to get a feel of what i should be mainly looking for.

Thanks
Dan

ur gonna want a rpm activator to along with the tps switch my no2 setup has the rpm activator control the ground to the no2 solonoids and the tps sensor controlls the power to the solonoids. the mechanical part is easy like mounting solonids and n02 lines. but i hate wiring but its not hard.

There is A LOT of information in the nitrous section, take your time and search for it. Where in new jersey are you? I am almost done with my nitrous setup, i installed it myself. All i have to do is test the fuel and nitrous solenoids and put in my jets, everything else is working like a beauty. I go to perth amboy to use my friends tools. If you really want stealth and keep trunk space, do what a lot of the other guys have done and put it in the glove box, thats where i put mine. I might be in perth amboy again this coming weekend if you are near that area.

i'll just add dont start until you have everything ready to install. i tried doing a little here and there while i was waiting for parts and ended up having to take everything out and start over once it all got there lol. very frusterating!

http://www.patmusiperformance.com/ - if you don't have a permit to carry nitrous in nj, go here.

http://www.holley.com/dealers/NOSDealerLocator.asp

use the one on holley's website to find dealers closer to you. I think there is one in belleville, but they require a permit. A permit is $25 for one year, but you have to apply and wait on it.

hey thanks alot 3k, um im like 30 min away from perth amboy. im in northern bergen county. yeah im definatly gona wait til i have everything, but i was just curious what are my essecials i will need. ive decided im gona go with the ZEX kit for the 350z, and im gona get the bottle warmer. im stumped on whether other brand name stuff will interact with other nitrous companies, like the dynotune gauges....

http://www.dynotunenitrous.com/store...p?idproduct=88

like i said, i just need feedback on other members setup, but im definatly gona do my research, i just wana make sure i have everything i NEED, and not anything i DONT NEED....hahaha

Dynotune nitrous gauge and warmer will work fine, they are universal. On dynotunes website, they tell you what stuff works with what. I'll let you know next time I am in Perth Amboy if you ever need some hands on help with your setup. Maybe you can come down then.

just had spray on my crossfire, installed everything myself in about 4 hours id say and everything was hidden nice, lines i ran right down with my brake lines and used all the same clips and hangers that were on the car just with some zip ties to make everything snug, it is not a hard job, just when hooking up your throttle position wire use the wire by the gas pedal it has a better signal than the one by the throttle body i figured out. i haven't looked at my z yet to find the wires by the pedal but im sure they are there, i wil be installing my zex #82021 kit in my z very soon, just need a day off.

yeah sorry....got a lil swamped with school and work.....umm gona possibly order sometime in october =] cannot wait. did my research and honestly seems very easy. should take me a weekend to do taking my time and doing it right....and what i mean by that is....pop open the hood, pop open a beer.....hahah.

looking forward to it....the only thing im confused on is how do i adjust so i only spray from 2nd gear and on, within a certain rpm....i know the window switch adjusts rpms...but gears also?

Thanks
Dan

A window switch is what allows you to spray in a specific window, as set by you based on engine speed.

A gear lock-out, which is a misnomer, will allow you to skip X amount of gears before activating the nitrous. So, if you set it at 2, it'll wait 2 gear change from whatever gear you were on (so it's not based on the actual gear number, but how many changes), until allowing spray.

The easiest (and cheapest) way to have both readily available would be to purchase Dynotune's window switch/gear lockout module. MSD also has a similar one, if you're into brand names.

The ZEX window switch also has gear skip up to 8 gears I believe (but who would need that much).

But I would recommend the above mentioned by 3hree5ive0ero since I'm on my 3rd ZEX switch in a year, and #3 doesn't work either.

Not everyone has bad experiences with ZEX, but for some reason, I have.

#1 worked for several months until one day it just stopped working.
#2 was replaced under warranty and worked for 1 and a 1/2 sprays.
#3 showed up DOA (under warranty) and they won't refund my money, only give me a ZEX credit or aonther switch.
