What do i need?? HELP!
I'm getting a N2o setup very soon. I was wondering if someone can tell me the list of item's i need besides the N2o setup like for instance, Ecu, A/F controller... etc.. Thanks you help will be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Erich

Well, depending on how big of a shot you want, you shouldn't need anything other than a set of colder plugs. However, I'm not experienced with N2O, so hopefully someone else will chime in who is.
You should definitely do some searching on the forum and find info on what other people used for jet sizes to provide the proper A/F ratio. If you were going really big, the only thing I could think of that you might need would be a timing retard box that will retard when you throw the switch. J&S comes to mind.

I read the whole "Big Bad Nitrous" post and it really helped me out but im looking to see what anyone thinks i should get other then the essentails, right now it's up in the air, ive heard yes, its ok if you dont go tooo big, then i hear NO, it will kill your motor.....
I just might go turbo, but i dont trust them yet either!

this is getting annoying....
i've said it thrice and ill say it again. nitrous does less damage to your engine then any other FI mod you can do strictly because its only in use 8-10 seconds at a time. a 10lb bottle would last roughly 3 minutes of continuous use at the correct psi level (100shot). you tell me how 3minutes of nitrous use over lets say a weeks time is harder on ur engine then FI which is on the second you turn the key until the second ur turn off the engine??
i dont get where people come up with that. wheres the logic? i think n2o gets the short end of the stick strictly because people dont understand how it works. all it is, is a different form of FI. with other types FI you have to do some time retarding and dump more fuel into ur engine because of all the added air coming in. same with nitrous ONLY you dont have to do any time retarding (up to 200 shot) because the system dumps in the extra needed fuel and the air goes into ur engine in liquid form and then turns into a gas (its not pure oxygen its 2N molecules 1O molecule and then ur have ur sulfur as a precaution to the idiots sniffing the stuff. just to skim the top without any boring detail). BOTH setups greatly increase pressure in ur engine. BOTH setups wear ur engine out while in use (thats where nitrous wins).
when you go with n2o dont go cheap. your already saving thousands of $ as it is by going n2o instead of other FI mods. heh and you'll be faster then all other FI mods as well. so be on the safe side and spend a little extra. if you cant instal it, find someone who can do it right, dyno the car, get all the gauges and safety kits you can possibly get. buy colder pulgs (1 degree colder up to 100 shot). dont be chincy cause thats when things go wrong. do some research on how nitrous works and how you should use it once its installed. its not a plug and play system. its more like plug learn then play hard system. theres nothing like the kick you get once the system kicks on. its sick! just dont be stupid about it and put in more then your engine can handle.
and one last thing...once the blown engine count due to n2o is more then blown engines due to other FI mods, come talk to me........wont happen.
any way...now that all the bs about blowing up ur motor is out of the way, let me ask you this.
How much are you looking to spend and how fast do you want to go?

sunset,
just wanted to say thank you ... that was a very good post
i presentely have no power adder, but n2o is near the top of my list
you can get roughly the same hp and tq gains as FI but with only $1.5k initial investment vs. about $5-7k for FI.
i wont be doing anything for a while though ... want to see how vortech and greddy pan out over then next 6 months

Thanks for the post SUNSET, I am currently running 13.7 @ 101, im looking to break into the high 12's i just ordered some test pipes and other little stuff, nothing serious. But i hear N20 is prolly the best bet for power adders to our car! So, i just wanted to do a little 75 shot and hope it helps me as much as i need it too, if i doesnt i will not be going bigger on the SHOT i will prolly do some internal motor work, lower compression pistons and different cconnecting rods, ETC......
But thank you for posting and WHAT DO YOU THINK, about what i have said!
Thankz,
Erich

i think a 75 shot should put you in the high 12's. with n2o a good bet is .1 seconds per 10hp shot. so on a good run you'll be in the 12's test pipes at best i believe give you .1 seconds. thats at best. i actually have mine sitting under my bed heh, waiting for the weather to warm up a bit before i put them on. a 100 shot will give you consistant 12's where as a 75 shot could go either way. i did 2 runs at a 75 shot before i went up to 100. i was able to get 13.0 and 13.1 in the 1/4. that was on stock tires and only cai and grounding kit (which im sure does nothing). i probably could of broke into the 12's with a few more runs, but 100 shot jets were calling for me.
you'll need some track tires for traction. i havent sprayed in first gear yet because im on stock tires. zero traction if you spray. BUT i have some mickey thompson cheater slicks waiting to burn for next summer.
bottom line, get a 75 shot kit, get some good slicks for the track, get 1step colder plugs, and put the test pipes on. you should be able to hit 12's easily. u might think about getting a CAI which will help out ur nitrous system.
lets not forget the cranky pulley. i have mine under the bed too. cant wait til the summer....damn
its easy gettin the z in the 12's, but its getting it in the 11's thats gonna hurt. i think we;ll leave the 11's alone for now.
hopefully mid to low 12's for me next summer

as for fuel pumps etc, we've had people run as much as a 200 shot of n2o on the z with stock engine internals other then getting 2 step colder pulgs. we did have one go as high as 370shot, but that engine is no longer with us, so we wont count that one.
you can get them really whenever you want they cant hurt, but they're not needed for lower shots. so i think the vq35 could handle ne sane persons n2o up to a 200 shot. but if ur not normal and you go above a 200 shot you should start looking into those kinds of things, and yes maybe even save up some cash for a new engine. even though the engine might be able to handle over a 200 shot, how long will it last before something goes poof?
that would fit under the "being stupid and putting in more then the engine could safely handle" section. and bottom line, you do decrease engine life every time you spray or do any other FI mod. so basically how long do you want your engine to last?
i've been on the phone with NX reps a lot lately because i've been looking into upping my shot. they said you can "safely" spray up to 25 shot of n2o per cylinder. in our case that would be a max of 150 shot if installed and tuned correctly. thats for NX, im not sure what the limits are for other kits, but im sure 12secz and mjedens could help with other brands.

Same thing for ZEX, Reccomend fuel pump with 150 or 200 shot. ZEX sells a booster, I bought a direct swap. Walbrough/P.E
Sard/Denso are a few.
I think the injectors should be changed above a 200 shot but that is me. Why flow more fuel to those tiny injectors?
Stay at 100 or you can get 105 and even 125 and be ok on a stock setup if your A/F is right and the jettings are dynoed to be accurate. I prefer the NX jets myslelf their numbers are more accurate.
Going above 125RWHP is for addicts, and well we have allot of addicts.
So do you want a safe 12.5 occasionally?
Then get some DR's and run a 125 shot, you could do 12.4 . Have to have a 12.2? Might as well do it right with the pump and injectors and then a GReddy E-Manage or Apexi SAFC=II.
All of a sudden we are talking the need for more gauges.
How much money do you REALLY have ? The sky is the limit!
I did 12.7 all stock internals and fuel system but had MT 26X10 with intake , exhaust.i Wouldn't go above 125HP with out mofifications too risky.

if i just do a 75 shot with the zex 82021 kit, all i would need would b one-step colder plugs, right? also, is everything i need in the kit? the one thing i'm wonderin is a fuel tap adapter. thanks.
Ok, my mods are as follow.....
Injen CAI
Injen SES true dual
Helix Test pipes
Grounding Kit
Now i figured i wanna go mid 12's, now im just a little worried about putting my car under the shot, but it looks like my only option......I prolly go with a 100 shot, now how would i adjust my A/F ratio to run a lil richer so i dont lean out......Thats my only worry about leaning out and fry'n a piston or two.....
So i wanna thank everyone for their input but i wanna keep this post going any comments and help would still be helpfull.....

get ur car dynoed at 100 shot before you run it at the track. it'll tell you how if you need to adjust your jet sizes.
the systems are setup to where they're fairly accurate for all cars on jet sizes. but in some cases you do go lean top end and thats why you should dyno before running the car hard.
you wont go mid 12's going N/A....pretty much impossible.
