i have been looking into ways for some additional power from my vqde but have a few questions ..i generally understand the concept of nitrous and water/meth injection but have been getting very confused as to why water/meth is used mainly on turbo vehicles and with a NA engine i have really only found people to use nitrious.. any help, pros cons etc would be appreciated... and sarcasm is not needed, i realize i am a "noob" with performance issues so plz try to help thanks alottt

 

in short:
-meth/water cools to make power
-nitrous cools and adds oxygen/fuel mixture to make power
-FI gets hot and already has its own additional oxygen/fuel, leading to meth/water being more common

 

I dont understand why some people run nitrous and water/meth at the same time.

 

nitrous only cools the intake air temp which makes it more dense, on top of that the oxygen we breath is only around 21% oxygen vs about 33% from nitrous. this means more fuel to burn and a bigger bang instead of forcing more air in like fi you are improving the quality of air going in both result in more.

meth on the other hand cools intake air as well, plus it is a fuel like gas and has a much higher octane then anything you buy at the pump. water cools the combustion temp which is why people tend to mix the two togeather, the mixture % depends on goals and whats needed for your setup.

 

there is no point in running nitrous + water/meth when you could just get an auxillary fuel system that had meth in the cell as a dedicated fuel supply for the nitrous. you will make a 1/3 more torque than gas when run like this. this information was given to me by the late john stewart, aka mr nitrous, the inventor/patent holder on the nitrous express shark nozzle.
