Default N2O users, question about remote bottle openers

i was curious if anyone tried using a purge kit as remote bottle opener? you get the heavyduty solenoid & attachments. it would just need to be attached at the bottle to the nitrous feed line. easily hooked to a switch in the drivers compartment & could remotely open & close the bottle feed. the purge kits can be purchased for around $60-$70 & would be greatly cheaper than the regualr remote kits that cost over $200! curious if anyone did this? i realize its not near as pretty & also may be more of a challenge when removing the bottle for filling but do you think it would suffice while saving well over $100?

heres a pic of what it would be like:

thanx,
-justin

purge seleniods arnt made for spraying. the opening on them is very small compared to the actual spraying seleniod.

the that setup you'd have to have both the purge seleniod and nitrous seleniod activated to spray nitrous.

you could possible run very rich on that setup as well as fry the purge seleniod AND some engine parts due to an overly rich condition.

the safety is not worth the $100 dollars saved by your setup. it'll cost you a lot more then $100 to fix in the long run.

that makes sense, i think i was picturing the purge valve to be heavy duty. lets say a heavy duty/high flow solenoid were used?...so tell me this, how does the purge valve for actual purging connect? isnt it inline to the regular nitrous soenoid? it has to be to get nitrous to it in order to purge. so wouldnt the case be the same here? mabey im picturing the purge setup wrong, please enlighten me!

im not saying your wrong, im just very curious. i come up with crazy ideas in every project i do. some good & some not so good. i probably wouldnt run this setup even if it were full proof. its way too ugly & as i mentioned previously it would be a pain when filling the bottle. plus i learn more when i ask questions! im all about the reasearch!

the way the purge system is set up is this:

nitrous line feeds the nitrous to your nitrous seleniod which has 1 inlet and 2 outlets. from there its split into 2 ways. the first way is a simple flow threw without restriction which you either connect to the purge selenoid, or cap off if you dont install a purge. the second way leads to your fogger which is closed off until you activate it by WOT.

so once you push a button to activate the purge seleniod and open the passage way, thats when all the air leaves the lines. as soon as your purge is purging liquid, then thats when you know that your nitrous seleniod has pure liquid in it and is ready to be put to use.

the system doesnt even have to be armed for nitrous to flow threw the nitrous seleniod and into your purge seleniod. the purge system is really a stand alone system.

if you are to use a larger seleniod as a purge, how do you plan on actually activating it to open? are you going to hook it up to a switch that will keep the bottle open or just have it open when your in WOT?

keeping it open at all times will cause the seleniod to everheat and burn out. they're not meant to be run for more then 10-12 seconds at a time. also, having the selenoid act as your remote opener will cause the seleniod to wear out early from all the pressure it would constantly have to deal with. another thing is, this will mean that you cant install a pressure regulated bottle heater since they work according to the pressure in the bottle. having that bottle closed until time of use wont give you enough time to bring the bottle up to temp, and in some cases (if you leave the heater on) the bottle will overheat and blow the max pressure cap. thats when all your nitrous will vent out of the bottle to keep it from blowing up.
