Default Spray with Auto?

Hey,
I was just curious if any of you were spraying with the auto. Is it necessary to get the aftermarket torque converter or valve body kit? I dont care about the performance aspect of those parts but I dont want to ruin my tranny, I really only want a 55 shot...75 at most, hehe

i've ran as much as a 125shot with only an intake without a problem. i've since gotten the torque converter upgrade, but havent had the chance to try it out at the drag strip.

you might want to invest in something that will shut the system down while your car shifts. WOT is only part of the answer with auto trannies.

hmm, I didnt know something existed that could shut down the spray during shifts. I had the idea of just pulling my foot up a hair near redline for shifting, but that of course isnt full proof. Do you know what this thing is called or is that just an idea of yours as well?

There are various RPM switches, the one I like the best is the MSD RPM window switch #8969. This one is totally adjustable and requires no "pills" like the old ones.

I have run up to a 150 shot with no switch on an auto and no problems but its probably not easy on it.

would that also include a 350z tranny? i think ours is slightly different then the others, and im not sure it will hold up as well as the rest.

they dont make anything for it that i know of. i just added it on myself for extra safety. but i have run a 125shot on my z without a window switch without a problem at the track. i wouldnt do it on the streets though because you'd easily lose traction if your on street tires, then u'd bounce off the rev limiter and there goes your engine.

i even tried spraying in 1st gear but it was like the car was on ice. i have the msd 8969 window switch that jime mentioned but its been sitting in the garage for about 2 months waiting to be installed. im still trying to figure out where i need to tap into the ecm to get a tach reading for the switch to work.

jime, are you running a 2 stage setup? if so, what are your shots sizes for stage 1 and 2?? im thinking of upgrading to a 2 stage to help with traction and let me spray in 1st gear.

I was running a 2 stage with a 50 in the 1st and a 100 in the 2nd. I ran the 1st stage out of the hole and then after the 1-2 shift hit the 2nd stage. However it was still a no go for traction when I hit the 2nd stage so I went to the Maximizer which just used a single stage but you can run whatever size you want and control it electronically.

oh...now that sounds nice. i think the cost would almost be the same if i were to get the maximizer you mentioned rather then go with a 2 stage upgrade. i just might do that.
