do you think a non true dual 3 inch will have much of an affect

Yes sir. I think you will most probably have more air flow moving through the true dual. I definately felt some difference after adding the popcharger and exhaust versus stock but it's nothing significant. The sound is completely different from a single to a true dual. Well, depends on which one I guess. I'd actually have to sit down and do some calcs to figure the air flow differences but..... If you were too run a true dual with large piping such as 2.5 or higher, you'd probably lose a little power on the bottom end. Again, with just an exhaust you will not notice much difference. If you were FI, then .......

thanks, i'm thinking about getting top speed and the one for sale is 3" and i was wondering if i should wait for a 2.5
