I thought 4.08's were better for drag, where as 3.9's were better for street. Someone, please enlighten me.

lol well depends on how you look at it, the 4.08 should be great for drifting also, a lot easier to spin the tires over when cornering. but yes drag also.

can't really say that. just depends on how high of a gear you want. the higher the gear, the quicker and shorter the gear. theoretically, the higher gear will give you more torque

I was refering to the statement of which one was better for street and drag. Depends on what you want. I think 4.08 would be better for anything except for a FI car.

Correct about losing top end. It will shorten you gears meaning your top speed will drop but your acceleration will rise.

Just to give you a comparison.

Bradley and I raced from a roll in 3rd gear. I was at 3000 rpms. Don't know what Bradley was at but we were even as far as position of the car. He honked 3 times and we went. He jumped about a car ahead of me by the end of 3rd. He actually switched into 4th before I was finished with 3rd gear. He has 3.9s and I have stock gears.

Which gives him harder pull. What is the best setup with mine being fi?

I think I got 1.5 cars on Bradley from a 60 roll. He did have Nikki in the car

stock gears. If you go with the 3.9s or 4.08s, you will have a hard time with traction. First gear will be virtually useless. Most people with FI stick with the stock gears or go with the automatic final drive 3.3s.

I was 3000 dude. You don't really have much get up and go at 3000 rpms. 60 mph in 3rd is a different story.

Yes sir. The automatic Zs have 3.3 gears in the rear end. 6 speeds have 3.5
