We just got back to the hotel from day 1 of Divisionals. The quality of drivers here is some of the best I've seen at an event in Louisiana.

Bradley came in third of three drivers in BSP with a time of 48.2xx His other compitition was a C4 running 335's all around with 2 drivers. If I remember correctly they were running 44.9xx and 45.09x That car's damn fast.

I'm 4th in SM out of 9 drivers with a time of 48.3xx. Justin with his S14 is 2nd in SM with a 47.3xx

The course changes a bit for tomorrow and hopefully I can catch up a bit.

Now I know why there aren't any nationally competitive Z's in BSP. I talked to the guys driving the C4 and they said that their car is only in the middle of the pact @ Nationals...

No really, the black smoke is def not good.. its one of the things that made me throw in the towel with the car.. i had an oil change about 1K miles prior to that day and when i got home, i had to top it off 2 quarts.. oil pressure was low. I can work with small issues on the car, but once the engine started acting funny, i just lost interest. It didn't help any that the drivetrain warranty had just expired as well. Fug it.. sooner or later i will get back into something sporty.. prob when my mid life crisis comes along.. which is just around the cornder.

I have reason to believe that the 03-05's have weak oil pumps, and when run hard, don't work as well. Since the HR engine came out with a improved oil pump, they have less, oil pressure, and oil consumption issues. I have a HR oil pump in my built motor, and I don't have any issues. And I believe Greg is correct, dark smoke = rich, probably just needed a good tune.

it prob was just something small.. tune, wrong kind of oil, me driving like a jackass.. whatever it was, it wouldn't have made much of a difference to me at that point. Don't get me wrong, I miss the Z at times, but i think the sedan i have is waaaay more practical for me at this point. I have 2 little ones, and i can't exactly fit them in the Z.
