If I had a dollar for every time someone wanted the same parts as me because they saw them on my Z, I'd be driving a Ferrari now. It sucks to be copied, but you can't tell someone "no, you can't buy them".
And, in all honesty, I had planned on buying these same Work wheels with offsets (minus the ridiculous spacers) a good year before you did. I just decided that they weren't worth the extra cash for a spare set of "beat up" wheels. I certainly wouldn't have told anyone "no" to buying the same ones just because I had them.
I guess it goes back to this - Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

The point is you cannot honestly expect him to not get the wheels just because you say so.
