I would say a 99 cbr900rr has less power than today's 1000cc. Today's 1000 also weighs less.

About 18 hp less, and around 40 lbs in weight difference. Today's 1000rr, is the newer version of the 900rr.

1000 is overkill for me. I'd kill myself just sitting on it in the driveway

Same here I started on a 93 cbr900 with 140hp @ the wheel and 460-475lbs wet. Loved that bike.

Yeah stock they claimed 125hp in 99. The biggest drawback to a 900rr is the 16" front wheel. I don't know about now, but a few years back finding a tire for it in stock was a *****.

In 92 when they released that bike it was revolutionary (like the 98 R1). The only thing around similar was the GSXR 1100, and that was a heavy *** bike.

i think a 900 is waaaay too much for a beginners bike. Most people would frown on a 600 as a beginners bike too. I had a R6 as a starter bike and i couldn't tell you how many times people woud shake their heads when they realized it was my first.

I think if you dyno'd a 900rr with a modern 600, you would see a small difference on the big end. The 900rr will have more tq (usually gets ppl in trouble), but similar numbers.

The 900RR we used to Dyno made 108ish

Honestly any bike will get u in trouble even if its under 100 hp. COnsider the weight to power ratio and they all are insane. I do regret goin with a fully modified 900 as a first but i was lucky enough not to kill myself. Personally i think if i got another bike even with all the experience I have now i'd go with a 600 or gsxr750.

Tire Rack just called & woke me up to make sure I wanted 265-35. I wasn't fully aware & was like, "oh **** is that what I need?!?!!?!?"

Then it clicked that I was ok.

I just checked the site & didn't see anything listed-- I bet he can order something for you. He's been searching for the Reebok Voltron pack for me in my size & they've been out-of-stores for almost six months.
