Hey do wheels look any different when they are powdercoated? I just want it to look like it came that way you know. I have never had anything powdercoated thats why I ask. I ask because I really think I am going to call Logan at ASPEC and tell him to send me the Gunmetal CR Kais and get them powdercoated gold. Any thoughts or ideas?

An aftermarket hu actually improve the sound, although the stock speakers are not the best. You can put a inexpensive pair, like pioneers, and get 2 x's better then stock.

It's very dependent on what type of wheels you Powdercoat.
Greg knows a lot more about this.

As far as powdercoating, I believe it depends on who powdercoats and what methods they use to prep it. From what I was hearing, some companies use too much heat to take the stock paint off and it damages the wheels, especially cast like the 06 wheels. I know when I asked a company here the first thing they asked me was what kind of metal the wheel was.

I hear ya, just looking at the price difference in the two. But for the money of the R8, I would go for the ZR1.

Are ya'll thinking about the problems with the Nissan OEM wheels that have been rechromed? Rechroming involves heat and chemicals that are responsible for micro-cracks and eventual failure.

Powercoating is relatively harmless. You want somebody to soda blast them rather than sand blasting - not as abrasive and you don't risk tempering the wheel by burning the old paint off with heat. The only thing you have to watch is how the new powercoat is baked on. You want somebody who has experience with wheels, as they require more careful handling than brake calipers or a frame/chassis for example.
