With the exception of Grant, we should have everyone on both sides of the ball healthy, so there is no excuse not to.

 

That game definately both helps and hurts LSU. It hurts in recruiting, especially when high school recruits can be told:

"Well, look what happens to freshmen at LSU.....(Russell Shepard) and look what happens to freshmen at Alabama (Trent Richardson). Richardson, as a freshman, got close to the same number of carries, yards, and TDs in the national championship game as did the HEISMAN TROPHY WINNER. That's just insane.

But it does help to have the SEC win another one to boost strength of conference. This comes into play when voters are voting teams into the BCS games. There is no way an undefeated SEC team gets left out of the title game for a very long time (see Auburn 2004).
