then that's what i'm going to do tonight then. . .is the processor on the hard drive itself or a chip soldered on the mother board. . .i want something faster. . .have the intel core duo right now. . .

oh, and CPU is on motherboard.. it's a chip
What Willma said. RAM is a lot cheaper than a processor and yields more noticeable results most of the time. If you're worried about speed, I wouldn't get a 2TB 5900rpms drive. You'll want at least 7200rpms if you're using it for your primary drive. If you're just using that for storage, that's a different story. Your performance will degrade with the slower rotational speed though.
I'd install Windows 7 to see how it is first before you upgrade the processor. Windows 7 is a lot faster than Vista so you could be wasting your money.
I've got a computer hardware question for you ladies...
The cooling fan on my computer broke so now I have my desk fan blowing on the inside of the computer( I took off the little side piece). Is it possible to buy just the fan assembly or no? (2006 Dell Computer)

I'm guessing it's the one on the case and not the processor bc that chit would have fried already lol.
Is it just a regular looking fan? Typically fans on cases are pretty generic looking and so are the connections. I'm not 100% sure if Dell went proprietary with the fans but if it is, it would be because of the screw locations instead of the connections I'm willing to bet. Fans can be had for cheap so it won't hurt to try it.

lol, it should be possible, without seeing it it's hard to say. Sometimes manufacturers put a slight twist to their hardware to make simple tasks like this hard to do.. just take it out and bring it to Best Buy.. they have fans that you can maybe match up.. if not, try radio shack.. if not, get another desk fan for yourself and keep the one on your PC
