Holy crap. I don't think I've put 200 on mine. (puts it at under 800 : ) I guess working from home really drops the miles on the car.

haha.. Try breaking it in twice! When I got my new engine I put over 1200 city miles on it in under a week.

Being this close to the Nissan Tech Center, I see a lot of stock Z's running around. If you see me, wave me down. (I'm not running the Giovanna's right now. Waiting to get the toe straightened before slipping them back on.) I'll be on graphite painted 18" stockies.

I actually have been modding the MS3. I currently have:

MAZDASPEED cold air intake
MAZDASPEED 3" catback exhaust
Forge Motorsports piston-style bypass valve
2.5" aluminum turbo inlet pipe
TWM Short Shifter and weighted shift ****
Cobb Front (not installed) and Rear (installed) sway bars
MSD Dashhawk
AWR rear motor mount

On order still:
MAZDASPEED progressive lowering springs and camber kit

Did I say I was trying to take it easy with the mods?...

I haven't dyno'd the car yet but the MS CAI is dyno-proven to make ATLEAST 25+hp. It's the single biggest gain on the car you can make. Exhaust is probably making hardly 3whp. I've yet to replace the downpipe but it's a little early to be voiding my warranty just yet. Hence my original interest in purchasing all the MAZDASPEED-related accessories first.

I also did try out an AccessPort Cobb Tuner and it made the car into a MONSTER. But their over-the-shelf tunes make the car knock at part throttle boost, was not a fun thing at all. It was removed in a heartbeat. Maybe down the road, I'll get an appropriate tune done. Otherwise, it's still my DD and I still need to keep it useable.

You have an RX-8 and a 350z? I like the RX-8's a lot, but they leave a lot to be desired when it comes to power.

I really do enjoy the car though. Sure, the trans is a little notchy, and sure FWD sucks sometimes, but I couldn't have gotten what I got for much less than what I paid for this car.

 

Power sucks for sure unless you keep it wound up over 5600 rpm in the turns. It has it's fun moments. I'm sure your MS3 can dust it.

Wife drives the RX8 in the summer. I take it in the winter.

I had a red 1987 Nissan 300ZX Turbo
She had a silver 87 Mazda RX-7 Turbo II

16 years later:
I have a red 350Z
She has a silver RX-8

Just like back then, I still have the faster car.

 

nice 'speed, mike. i work at the advertising agency that has mazda as a client - we get a supplier discount on mazdas on top of regular market incentives, plus we get $500 from the agency just for buying/leasing a mazda as a further incentive. the only car i've been tempted to get is a 'speed... they are nice!

i work on the dealer brochures, and just finished the 2010 mx-5 miata. we placed a shot of the new '10 speed3 - it looks wicked....

Got about 500 miles on the Z already, enjoying driving it. It really is a nice car thats for sure. You will all drive it more then likely
