anyone know the illinois window tint laws? like how many times to get pulled over before they enforce a ''$10,000 fine and 3months in jail'' (from the state cop that pulled me over!). just curious if anyone knows. thanks

 

YIKES! Never heard that before. I got pulled over for that and the cop didn't mention anything like that.

 

WHAAAAAAAT lol, i think thats bs right there, he was tryin to scare the **** out of you, i know in jersey ive gotten like 4 or 5 tickets in 3 years and one court tells you, you have to show them the car with the tint off, and i always tell them ill come back and never do lol, its bs. Amazing, friend drives a rubicon and hasnt gotten one, even gets pulled over and cranks down his one window and cops never say a word. Me in my accord... prime target. I swear i had a BOLO for my car in next town over, i had 3 tickets there..... Be On the Look Out if you didnt know lol.

EDIT: I really think tint should be a secondary offense, like i dont feel i should get pulled over just because of that, if im speeding or make a wrong turn or anything then fine, but i drive very civil, perfect record in 4 years, gimme a break im not hurting anyone. Plus my eyes are sensitive to light, too lazy to get a doc note. Cant wait to tint out my Z, side mirrors are blinding at night.

 

No such thing. Simple fix it ticket. Anything on the front driver/passenger is a ticket.

 

i know it is a ticket...he just gave me a warning...but i drive past him nearly every day. so i am trying to figure out if i should just take the tint off. although, he did have to pull up RIGHT next to me to figure out i had it (it is the lightest tint you can get) anyone have pics of a Z without the front two windows tinted?

 

Either take the tint off or bend over each day when you see him

 

he said he was a cool guy, so i am going to fix the front plate (yeah, didn't have that on either) and not speed around that town. i have been pulled over by 2 other states, and they never said anything about either thing. this guy was feeding me some bs story about some cop that got shot and that is why it is illegal. when he pulled me over...he swooped WAY out to the side of the car with his hand on his hip (even though my window was down) like i was gonna do something.....did this all 4 times he came up to my car.

 

If you got a cool doctor you can get him to write you a letter that states that the tints are required to be on your car cuz you have bad eyes... My cousin did this and it worked for him

 

$25 dollar ticket

 

I know this is a really old post but, I rock 5% on rear and sides and I know people with more that never get pulled over EVER.
If you live in Central Illinois I wouldn't worry about it as long as you don't driver like a jack ***

info on chicago z about the new window tint law that could be getting passed. Short of it is: Would allow 35% all around, or 50% front if rear is darker than 35%. Passed the House, now in the Senate. We shall see what happens
