Oh yeah, we have been detailing with the rotary for years...burn through can be an issue, but you generally REALLY NEED to test it out and watch the speed/rpm's.
The reason the cyclo is cool is with some tact, you can run one low on wax/compound and one HOT and do both jobs in half time...in thoery, I have only played with the CYCLO once.

I don't see how you could do both at once. You have to finish the correction before you can polish. I don't see how you could run different compounds at the same time. You are overlapping with each pad and basically mixing/cross contaminating the compounds and pads you are using

I talked to Steve a few days ago. He's been busy with his stores. Andrew is MIA. Probably that time of year near the end of the semester. Everyone is super busy.
edit:
Since we are on topic, just thought I would post up the link to Pakshak in case anyone is interested in where to buy quality microfiber -> LINK
I have spent way too much time on the detailing forums as of late. Found out how much I didn't know about even washing a car (two bucket method, girt guards, straight line method, waffle weave microfiber drying), let alone swirl correction

andrew is around. I got a message from him last week. When you are a young college kid, there is a lot of tail to chase
I have been considering buying a Porter cable for sometime now and I think I am more convinced to go for it. Now, can those pads be washed and re-used or you need a brand new set each time?
I have a question while we are still on this topic. How do you go about the underbody
washing?. Our cars are so low you can only basically get the underside with the water in a horizontal direction. I get worried about getting water somewhere it should'nt. On the other hand I know cars can safely be driven in heavy rain and minor water pools on the road. Any ideas welcome. Thanks

I wouldn't worry about the undercarriage. It is coated. The only real way to clean it would be with the use of a hoist
the pads can be reused. Just buy some of these or a diluted solution of a degreaser can be used.

The sarcasm lies in the fact that you constantly reference your Nismo and HR motor like it is something specially unique and completely different than the rest of us have experience with or drive. In this instance nobody really cares or is impressed that you have an HR motor that has top bolts that are insanely tight and a PITA to break loose. Test pipes are test pipes and don't take a skilled mechanic or any exotic or special tools to install..... HR or DE motor

you want to know what is a PITA to do... building a motor and installing a twin turbo conversion kit. Done it a couple times; I think I am almost comfortable enough with my skill level to tackle an HR test pipe install. I hear them top bolts are pretty tight

If you do decide to tackle this project on your own the best way to take off those top bolts is going to be by above. Use lots of extensions, I had 2 12" long 1/2" drive extensions with a breaker bar and it was easy getting them undone. I'm sure the same can be achieved with the HR tho you might have to take out one or both of the intake tubes to get to them.
