Well, I hope I can win big in vegas! Got big plans for the Z this winter and I hope I can afford all this ****.
Alllsssooooo......so I know the reputation of XXR'S, but does anyone have any firsthand experience with them in here? Looking at the 968's specifically.

If I have some free time, I'd love to go to a track and rent a supercar for like 5 laps for a couple hundred. That would be way better than losing it at the craps table.
local evo guy runs them... wouldn't be my frist choice as you could probably get a decent set of enkei's for ballpark money, but they should be fine
There's something about an all white Z that just makes ya hard.....
Well, gambling is called gambling for that exact reason. You ain't guaranteed ****. But yeah, the XXR'S would just be for daily driving. I'm hoping to start taking to a track (either auto X, or bir , or whatever) after I upgrade the brakes. So for now its just a daily so I shouldn't put too much stress on the wheels.

I know a few of you are friends with me on facebook, so some already no that I pulled my engine due to a headgasket issue. It has been intermittently a problem for a couple years now, but I finally had confirmation it was the head gasket and pulled up my skirt and pulled the engine.
it's been a long couple weeks for me, but to sum up, the machine shop I chose when we did this engine didn't finish the heads or top of block properly and that's what caused my issue. I took my heads to another shop to have them gone through and was advised they were not good for cores. I tracked down a long block to use the heads off of as cores, knowing that I might need the lower end as well.
We got the bottom end of my engine apart earlier today and doesn't look like much of anything is salvageable at this point.
I'm getting pricing on a short block and having the heads off the engine I bought gone through locally.
I love my car to death, but it's a really rocky relationship with some major ups and downs. when it's good it's really good, but when things go bad, they really are bad.
for those keeping count, this will be engine #4 that has been in my car in a mere 26,XXX miles.
#1 stock engine - never failed, just decided to build out of convenience with the intent that an ounce of prevention was worth a lb of cure (longevity and reliability were the goals)
#2 lower compression forged components/stock cams. I overboosted this engine.... yeah, forge red springs baby! 19 psi baby.... broke a ringland. This lead to the motor that I just pulled
#3 Extreme duty pistons with L19 head studs and HKS headgaskets, stage 1 cams -> should have been good for up to double the power I was running. Sadly it comes down to the quality of work that's done more so than buying the right parts. head gaskets failed due to machining issues. now looking at the lower end, there are other obvious issues.
so on to #4
this will be what #3 was supposed to be... a no expense, no time spared, let's do this right engine. my head studs and maybe my cams are salvageable from current engine. My game plan is to buy a short block either from hal @ dynosty or sharif @ forged, have Steve over at headwerks in bloomington go through the heads off the longblock I just bought and get this thing assembled and get my car back up and running.
for all you guys thinking about boosting your cars, it's a long, rocky road, but take solace in the fact it will likely keep your mileage low and your wallet light.

I'll have my z back together by spring so I can take it out of storage and park it back in my garage. Maybe drive it twice a month or so. it's a delicate creature that demands a lot of TLC
