Default The tax rate for a Z in Illinois?

I just moved to Illinois and am about to purchase a Z in Indiana. I know plating this car in Illinois will be much cheaper. I still have a residence in Indiana also. Would it be cheaper to title it in Indiana or Illinois...tax wise?

Thanks!

What county are you in? Sales tax on vehicles in Cook County is 7.75%. I can't tell you what it is in the other counties, but I am guessing it would be less. Also, if you live in the City of Chicago and lease a car, you have to pay a "Use Fee" every month.

You might be able to find out more info here: http://www.revenue.state.il.us/ or here: http://www.sos.state.il.us/

I think Dupage is 6.5%, but don't quote me on that.
