Let's Start an Official Detroit Area ZCar Club.
A few years ago I found a club that does driving events thru the back roads of ohio. Really fun a really great people to know, I think we should put together our own Detroit area club. Now there is a lot of us out here lets see how many of you want to get on the books.
there will be merch such as: t-shirts, SMALL window clings (were adults).
events with: food, Beerverages, driving, testing, tuning, dynoing( idk it that tense is correct).

I honestly wanted to start one a year ago. I checked ZCCA and found someone has one in the area. But it looks like they didn't do a good job and it's basically worthless.

If we start one, we should organize it with ZCCA.

I was a long time member of the Windy City Z Club and a short time member of the Smoky Mountain Z Club. I organized a couple fun rallys for Windy City and participated in the meetings and once a year B-Day party. It was a blast. We had discounts from dealers and parts suppliers. At the end of the year, they would donate parts and we'd raffle them off at the Birthday Party in November. It always paid for my membership dues.

I was a member of ZROC last year and figured that the four hour drive would kill me, and with work I missed all there driving events. I'd like to do the same kinda thing here on some carefully choosen backroads.
When I went down there I was under the impression that it would be like a laid back caravan. I when I was given a road map with rally style turn by turn descriptions I was very impressed. also gald that I had a co driver with me to call out the turns. they even let me borrow a walkie to keep in touch. It was broken up into 2 50 mile segments with a break in between at a local landmark to talk cars. both legs had more turns than I could count. And the sound of 24 Z's at high rpms brought some farm folk out of their homes like its was a parade. well anyway you guys get the idea, it was fun and i got to drive my car with some spirit not baby it.
WE could do this pretty soon actually.
Has anyone gone through HELL Michigan, there is some amazing turns and fun hills through there..
I did it with a few friends when I was younger in our Camaro's a BLAST.
WE have enough cars now to really get it going.
I was going to join I think it was ZCCA but they wanted like $50.00 and I asked for what and there was no response..

^^ I've done a few runs to Hell. LOL

I also lead a local group from RX8Club.com starting in Ann Arbor following the river towards Dexter and then into Hell. The Silver one is mine.

I also did the Hell run with the Michigan Ferrari Owner's Club (Like a dork, I had the only Japanese car, the RX8)

Anytime we want to coordinate a run, let me know. I'm in.

For $40.00 I would rather we all go on a long roadrally and use the forty for a campsite where we all tent and have abon-fire and have ablast then go home
I did that with some of the Motown Muscle guys AWESOME trip. Thats another Idea take back roads north stop at a camp site then we come back on Sunday, soo much fun.
Brian, I as well was the only Japanese car.
I am game for whenever so if you hear of anything let me know.
I know Johnny, Jeff, and Steve would be in on this.,

I had posted this up under post 1300 in the Detroit Meets. I'd up for doing this.
It's a little too late for this year, but I'd like to plan a spring run in May to do a Cedar Point / Put-in-Bay Camping Weekend.
Here's my thought so give me some feedback to see if it has any interest.
1) Meet up somewhere around the airport around noon or 1pm on a Friday. (I'll explain later why Friday, but it's necessary. With this much planning folks can ask for a day / afernoon off.)
2) Caravan along the coast. (A spirited / scenic route will be chosen.)
3) Arrive at Catawba Island Port to catch a ferry to South Bass Island. (There is a ferry schedule. You don't want to miss the last ferry or have a bunch of cars show up wanting on the last boat. You will be stuck)
I would prearrange to cue all of the Zs to go on as one group.
4) Take the ferry across to South Bass Island. This is an awesome photo op to have your car with a boat load of other Zs.
5) We caravan from the dock to the campground. We would stay at South Bass Campground. Here is the link to the campground map.
If we organize early as a group, then we can reserve sites together. Please feel free to bring the family on this trip too. (You may want the family to meet you there at the port as opposed to having the mini-van keep up on a spirited run. Your call.)
http://www.ohiodnr.com/Portals/2/par...asscampmap.pdf
6) Setup camp. Clean up the Zs if we wish and socialize.
7) Take a walk into the town of Put-in-Bay. There are several bars that are open till 1am and a few restaurants. Lots of boats docked there and always some kind of party. Don't drive there as parking is limited, speed limits can bite and drinking and driving is a no-no.
8) Come back to the site and crash for the night or keep going. (Your call!)
9) Get up in the am and hit the Sandusky ferry that cuts over to Cedar Point. (We have to leave very early as sometimes there is a wait to get cars on the ferry.) Double up folks in cars where possible to cut down on ferry costs or parking fees. Unless you just want to take your Z ... and that's fine too. (Your call!) LOL
10) Hit Cedar Point for the day. If we get a huge group, I'll organize T-shirts for a fee.
11) Stay as long as we can (or want) at Cedar Point. Remember, we don't want the last ferry to the island. Missing it could be bad!!
12) Last night on the island. We can do a BBQ cook out. Any Canadians attending need to smuggle Cuban Cigars to the event. LOL
13) Enjoy the evening and brag on the number of coasters you rode that day.
14) Sunday am ... catch breakfast in town or at the camp. Break camp and head for the dock.
15) Ferry back to the mainland and take the coast ride back home. (For the Michiganders.)
The reason for two nights is that the campground requires two nights paid for the site if you stay on a Friday or Saturday. If you absolutely can not go on Friday (which you miss the coastline run and group ferry boat ride)
Just a rough outline. Any interest? It will take time to plan and possibly some deposits. (refundable of course.) On your side, it means a commitment to attend.

thats a great idea, I always drove to port clinton and took the jet express to the island, i never knew they had a ferry for cars.
what do you think the total cost would be? ferry, camp, etc.

I think the rate for a one way vehicle ferry is $19.00. Kind of expensive but we can try and get there so the ferry is loaded with all of our cars in one trip. Wouldn't that be some killer pictures!!
If folks might be interested, I can start another thread. But I need a commitment way ahead of time. The reason, I'd need to coordinate with the campground for reservations ASAP. I'd like to select sites that will have all of us together. Like 95-101 or 78 to 86

Who would be interested? June, July, August or September?
Count me in for the rides and also for a club.
Not too sure about camping, never did it before and I am skeptical about it. I have a feeling I might have a miserable time at the camping
