Default Chicago Millennium Knickerbocker - advice

Hey All,

Sorry to turn this into Lonely Planet but I am coming your way (Chicago) for a holiday in January.

We are trying to find a hotel somewhere around Michigan Ave. We found the Knickerbocker on Expedia and its priced well. Anyone have any comments on that hotel or others you can recommend?

ALso whats your advise on things to see and do?

Thanks so much!!!

Mike

I've never been in there, but I think they just did a major renovation, so it should be nice. It's a good location, right in the Gold Coast. I stayed at the Millennium Hotel in St. Louis last year and it was nice.

It will be pretty cold in Chicago in January, so you might want to find some indoor activities. There is a lot to do right in that area, shopping, nightlife, etc. All the major museums are a short cab ride down Michigan Ave.

Thanks for that. I think we will try it out.

Will be staying up late this evening to try and get some Bulls tickets v Dallas. I went to Chicago a few years back for a couple of days so want to spend a few more and have a better look around and not so rushed......

The cold was unbelievable, never experienced anything like that!

What suprised me was all the people lining up in the snow to buy popcorn from some place (cant remember name) on Michigan Ave!?!?!?!?!?

I personally liked the Le Meriden, it was a very nice hotel and its right on Michigan AVe. Its very close to all the shops and good restuarants. The service was very nice also.
