I've got a few people confirmed so I went ahead and prepaid the cabin. I will need solid commitments from members by Monday so I can buy food, alcohol and reserve canoes.
Should be a very good time. It's a chance for us to get together and be more social than just car geeks. LOL GF's, wives or both are welcome.
Deepu, I'm surprised Manasa hasn't killed you in your sleep between track day events, Z club meets, etc...

Brian you should bring your family as well.
Sarah and I are kinda on the fence. We're leaning towards going, but since we just got engaged and her friends are all out of town this weekend, they all want to celebrate next weekend with us. I'll confirm by end of day today.

hey guys so unfortunately Sarah and I are gonna have to back out. Our friends want to throw us an engagement party next weekend and we're going to be out of town the following so that was the only time.
Brian I left you a voicemail regarding paying my portion of the cabin since you already pre-paid for it.

Since there were only two persons, we didn't bother with pics. We got to the cabin (after grocery stop) about 7:30. The drive wasn't so bad. Lee grilled the steaks and potatoes and I took care of the corn and mushrooms. We grabbed a mini-keg (5.7L) of Miller Lite and polished it off hanging out by the fire pit. Hellova sky at night but we didn't see any meteors.
The canoe trip was great. The temp was perfect for the cool water. It rained a little in the early am so we waited till noon to get on the water. We couldn't believe the number of people out there. The rule is one 6 pack per canoe. Bwahaha! Right. Lee had a six pack of 12oz and I had a 9-pack of 16oz aluminum bottles. Chicks in other boats were flashing their breasts and throwing Jello shots. We ended up tying the canoe up to some others and we drifted down together. For a 2.5 Hr canoe trip, I think we were out there over 4 hours. Enough to sober up for the drive back.
We grabbed more beer (2 more kegs) and some groceries for dinner that night. Ended up hooking up with two friends we met on the river and going to a local bar for Pig Roast. Drank more and had a great time. Went back to the cabin, started the fire and worked on one of the kegs. By 11pm, we all got the munchies and I whipped up a buffet of what we had left. Red Curry & coconut milk w/ grilled Chicken (grilled by Lee) with veggies, chicken carbonara, a side of shrimp along with garlic bread.
Sunday we chilled and slept in. Cleaned the dishes and headed to town for breakfast. Came back to the cabin and did some target practice with Lee's 22LR rifle and Ruger pistol. Lee did some fishing off the pier and we polished off what remained in the keg.
Weather couldn't have been better. We got very lucky in that respect.
I've been asked by several who cancelled if they can help with the cost of the cabin. (Since it was supposed to be divided.) I took the risk so I am OK with that. Instead, I'd ask (totally voluntary) if you would consider sending a contribution to the Great Lakes Z Club.
Paypal addy is: GreatLakesZClub@gmail.com
We need funds to get the kits going. I was planning to donate anything left from the cabin to the club. Any donation is appreciated. The start up costs to get decals made is the major part.
