I usually make this every year as a way to track events around the great lakes region. This way everybody can add new events and see if there are other Z/G owner's attending.

Still a work in progress but feel free to add your name if you plan on attending!

Damn, I'd like to join but I think they're a bit too far... not that I have the car or the skills to get on the track, but regardless..

Wow it looks like we could get a lot of Z's at the June 29th event at Mid-Ohio.
That would be awesome!!
3hree5ive0ero you should totally come out for that event. It wouldn't be too far a drive from Chicago.

I've never been to an actual track event, just test and tune. Enlighten me on how this all works and I will try my best.
Sign up, get a pre-track inspection at a mechanic/dealer, buy or rent an approved helmet, show up and race
For beginners they start you off with an instructor in the car with you for the first few runs until they feel you are ready to go by yourself. Basically they show you the correct lines around corners, where to start your turn-in and when to accelerate out, and help you learn the limits of your car. So much fun to let the Z squeal around corners like it was meant to

Hmm, very tempting. I'll know my schedule once we're closer to these dates, so I'll sign up then. I added myself to the google doc so, hopefully, I'll remember to check closer to the dates.
Are there certain criteria that I must meet for some of these groups? For example, how is NASA different from SEMPCA? What about classes, rules, etc?

Whichever group you run with will have published supplemental rules. You don't need to worry about classing. Just sign up for beginner.
Side note...can't believe NASA has a new spec Z class.

For NASA you actually do your own track inspection. They do a real quick inspection at the beginning of the event but that's it.
Main thing is helmet should be S-rated (although my friend was allowed to use his M-rated helmet cuz it was his first time).
But as jchanski said, you sign up for the event and membership, and then you come to the track and you'll have (4) 15-20 min sessions per day with an instructor with class directly after your session so you can go over any questions you might have.
And the time when you're not on the track, you get to check out other awesome cars/drivers and get to hang with your fellow Z owners!
edit: Of course make sure you have good tires, pads, and dot4 brake fluid.

Sounds like a regular test and tune day. I'll definitely show up to at least one of these events, hopefully more.
What group(s) do you guys run with for autox?

I'll be really excited to meet some new Z drivers. I think the only ones I've met are Rob, Lee and Deepu. We can have a powwow at Mid Ohio.
I'll definitely be there unless my car blows up. Even if it does, I'll still come to support.

Looks like a lot of the NASA events are open for registration already!

Might think about registering early, especially for Mid-Ohio since Nationals is there again

Bump this up, I know there were a couple Z's at the initial Mid-Ohio event.
Anybody going to Putnam on May 12th? Fixxxercask and I plan on going. It should be closer to the chicago folks as well.
