And the car sounded and ran fine before this?! I still find it incredibly hard to believe you threw the rod at < 2000RPM. I guess it's possible, but it must have been "hanging on by a thread".
rebuild and sell the procharger and try to get a twin turbo
The procharger has a lot more in it.
Blew my engine the same way too, one of the cog gears on the blower stripped/spun under the heavy load but the procharger/internal gear box was perfectly fine. I though for sure it would take some damage but everything works good. Before you sell yours wait to see how my high boost application pans out with water/meth and no intercooler project If things works out the way I expect superchargers/procharger may now finally make some big power, with a built engine of couse.
Either way you go it would still be nice to atleast built your bottom end up. It's crazy to see how weak the stock rods look compared to the pauter rods and it's really an seriously ill equiped piece from the factory

ohhhh noooo bah... scrap the car... sell it to me for like 500 ^_^. gl with the build. honestly its just something that you probably would have done in the long run, just got moved up. sucks that it happened this way though. NOW ull REALLY have to give me a ride one day
Sorry bro, I heard your car at the tri state meet a few weeks back, it sounded great. This is why Im staying NA, I do have the $$ to go turbo, but nothing beats NA reliability. Im coming from a Supra Turbo, damn I spent so much $$$ on that cars maintenance alone, I blew the block as well, so Im just taking a break. I love my Z right now. Next car will be turbo again. Good luck on your rebuild/decision.
damn jorge, i remember chatting with @ the first ever TSZ33 meet @ westbury (it wasnt officially a club yet) i'm the one with the redline track. anyway sorry to hear that man, let us know wat you got planned soon. and good luck
i think i going to rebuil top to bottom so i can run my procharger up to 16-18 psi
Don't care what anyone says, you need to build this motor to reliably run FI. In any case, unless you are a die hard drag racer, this car just doesn't have enough traction to deal with 16-18 lbs of boost for any kind of real world driving. Keep it real, people. About 400 crank hp is the useable limit of power in this car. More than that and you have to drive so delicately half the time that half the fun is gone. More and more and more power isn't always better. No matter how much power you have, to have a really enjoyable overall driving experience, the engine should not be stronger than the suspension, drivetrain, wheels/tires & brakes that support it. You will unbalance the vehicle. Go by BMW's philosophy:
"Build a great engine, then make it the weakest part of the car."
