Nah just kidding. Tiesto is quite possibly the best DJ ever, out of Europe.
A DJ as in he plays music(blends, remixes, etc) or DJ as in he carries the title and he composes his own stuff? Is it electronica that he plays? Does he have any elements of turntablism in his set?

I don't hear any kind of turntablism going on in most of the big "dj's" set, most sets I've seen are so flawless that you could be sure they were just playing a premixed CD. (Actually, thats not tottally true, I saw Sasha blow a stylus all the way across a record once.)

Where as on the other hand, I've seen some of the best turntablist dj's, such as Craze, the Executioners, Marko and others, who can do some really sick snit with a pair of turntables, and hear them make little mixing mistakes all the time.

Now I will grant that mixing a flawless trance set, really isn't that difficult as long as you can beat match, and since they have digital tables and mixers now that can pretty much beat match everything for you, life for the trance DJ just gets easier. Though with Tiesto, BT and PVD, they do produce a lot of their own music.

I hate to sound as though I'm slagging on these guys, because I really am not trying to, but in my own experience mixing a consistant House or DnB set is definitely tougher than mixing Trance, and Breaks fall somewhere in between.

Then again, I've never stood directly behind any of these bigtime trance DJ's during their set, maybe they are doing some serious *** magic back there. The big difference that I've noticed is that you can tell visually and aurally when a turntablist is doing their job, some of these other guys, you can't tell jack what they're doing or that they're actually doing anything at all.

LOL Serious *** magic! Thanks, he doesn't appear to play the music nor appeal to the crowd I hang with. He is popular though. I hear about him from time to time.

I saw him at one of the Ultra shows down in Miami. I agree, he is spectacular. Speaking of which, have you heard anything about Ultra.NY?

http://www.ultramusicfestival.com/

I could really gie a crap about Moby, but Digweed's always worth a see, and Junkie XL just kicks ***. I can't find a complete lineup though. It doesn't look to be anywhere near as big as the Ultra fests in Miami, and it says it's only running until 10PM. 10PM? that can't be right?
