The philly races are to much of a risk these days to even try to get close to them an watch.

I drove down to those races once and it was 1.5 years ago in my previous car. By the time I got down there the races had been broken up and there were hispanic guys in Hondas scattered everywhere ("we got cops, cops, cops GO!!!!!!!") (Road's closed, pizza boy. Find another way home.")

So that was ghey. Plus while driving down the main drag there (Oregon avenue possibly, can't remember) I inadvertently hit a pot hole that felt like I had hit a 6" curb head-on. I was running 225/40/18 tires and was extremely lucky that I didn't bubble out the sidewalls and/or crack the cheap-*** $600 rims I had on. Driving in south philly FTMFL.

OH, and I forgot to add, I was parked in a gas station parking lot, standing right next to my car on my cell phone getting directions for a friend's place on the other side of the city and this fat f*ck of a cop rolls up and starts writing down my license plate number. I say "I'm sorry sir, is there a problem?" And he says "You can't park there." I respond, "Oh ok, I apologize. I will move it immediately." He responds, "You have to move it NOW." (Didn't I just say that???) So I respond, "Yes, I will move it now" at which point he drives away in a huff and I get in the car and drive off. He never physically handed me a ticket and I forgot about the encounter, because I figured that I had done what he asked immediately when he asked. Then 4 weeks later I get a notice from Philadelphia Parking and Extortion Board saying that my failure to pay the issued $20 parking citation within 7 days after issue has resulted in a $35 late-payment penalty. So my options were a) schedule a half-day off from work to go to philly to *maybe* get the charges dropped, or b) just pay the $55 and be done with it, lesson learned. So $55 dollars later I still hold that the cop is a worthless fat f*ck. Again, driving in philly FTL.

I used to hit it up back about 2.5 years ago with my buddies WRX, the thing was you had to get there at the right time. One time really stuck out for. There were soo many cars it was nuts, thats when it was all new to us. Needless to say when you see a row of cops coming towards you and two helicopters beaming their spotlights on you, that makes it a little scary and definitely gets the adrenaline going.

We used to hit up Oregon Ave. a lot, that was like the hot spot. As time went on, things started dying down and we went the summer after our first summer, on a nice friday or saturday night (can't really remember), and you jsut see a few guys driving around looking for action, nothing big compared to what it used to be. Haven't been down there since. The best was watching a Porsche Turbo race a tuned M3, that was really nuts.
