i was joking around with drivencsz but damn i miss genos and pats. what other good steak spots are there in philly. i have family in upper dublin area and i know its a suburb but i visit once every year or so. wont mind driving out to the city =D
honestly pat's and genos are great and the rivalry is always hotly contested...but there's alot of places in the jersey/philly area that make damn good cheesesteaks. Jims on 4th and south st. is supposedly up with pats and genos i havent been there yet though.
I grew up in south jersey right outside philly and theres alot of places that make amazing steaks in the area. Used to get them from "Big Johns" in Cherry hill, NJ about 15 mins outside philly. Absolutely amazing chicken steaks, pizza steaks, everything was great there. The meats diced up nice and thin, REAL cheese(unlike the whiz) melted throughout. awesome.

My favorite place is the guy in the cart on the corner of N.15th St and JFK Blvd. I've been going to him for years. Even when I'm just passing buy, I always get a cheese steak from him.

Then again I'm from the suburbs born and raised where we eat real food so my opinion probably doesn't count.
yep i know what you mean...pats and genos are good for the experience but they arent the best in the area

Jim's steaks are not as good as Geno's or Pat's IMO. Jim's steaks is literally a 5 minute walk from where I live but i'd much rather jump in my car and take a 5 minute ride to Geno's.
genos and pats SUCK. totally overhyped. maybe it's a south philly thing? but south philly is not ALL of philly.
go to ******, awesome shop on aramingo I think.
or Gaetanos (not in philly though...)
fyi: cheesewiz does not make a 'philly cheesesteak' I don't know where that started but I am born and raised in Philly and it's AMERICAN CHEESE. propoganda I tell you.
there are other good ones, but these two I like.

on another note, i'm definitely gonna have to go visit her soon and try some good, non-swedish, philly cheese steaks. those pictures look like they taste pretty damn good.
