Castle Craig is kind of nice too. It's about a 8 minute drive up to the top, on this road that really encourages you to step on the Z and fly through the bends. Unfortunately, there are people walking and biking there, so that's not really a good idea. There's a little parking lot on the summit and a small stone tower. The views are nice, you can see Meriden quite well, some of Hamden off in the distance, and the Sound is at the horizon. I'm definitely going to come back to take some pictures for myself. Victor, I'm not absolutely sure we should include this, it might be too much.

If anybody would want to go on their own, I'd recommend it.

No pics unfortunatley, camera battery died.

Thanks Andrew. I can't understand why it says my mailbox is full. I've pretty much cleaned it out. I only have three messages in the inbox. I cleared all the sent messages and yesterday in the morning.

Regarding the meet, I drove to Hubbard Park again yesterday as well with my wife to get her opinion. She agreed it was a nice place to get together so, with your comments here also, we agree that this is the place to meet at in the morning.

I am planning 9:00 - 11:00 at the parking lot and then figured we'd take the ride to Castle Craig and leave there at 11:30. We will have plenty of time to do this and get to Lime Rock early enough. I think it's a nice little scenic spot where people could take some pictures and then we could leave from there to Lime Rock. I don't think speeding would be an issue because it's tough to do that even if there were no people walking and biking when you have 15+ cars driving together.

I will have the flyer finished later today and will email it to you to get your opinion.

Victor, I'm still kind of plus minus about the Castle Craig thing. It's nice, but it seems kind of unnecessary. It would involve packing everybody up and then caravaning a fairly short distance. By noon on a Saturday, the lot up top will definitely have some cars in it, and there's no way to include a Z in any type of scenic shot. Yes, the views are good, and people could take pictures of that, but the cars won't be in any of them.

The nice thing is that you can see the park from the castle, so depending on where the cars are parked, I'd like to take a picture from the castle looking down on everybody parked below.

I dunno, I agree that the park is the place to have it, we'll talk further about the castle.

Why the heck isn't it called Craig Castle instead?

That's fine by me. The most important thing is that we agree on the location for the meet and I think we do. The more I think about it, the more I understand what you mean about driving up there. We'll leave it out and mention it to people at the meet and see what they think. Obviously, our goal is to enjoy the morning and get out early enough to enjoy the Lime Rock activities.

Guys, I'm glad we are not doing the castle thing. Andrew is right this is to much for one event. I am happy about picking Hubbard park though. I'd really like to get to Lime Rock to enjoy the event so can we decide that 11am is the latest we leave?

We may need to look for contingencies if the park is full that day. Vic, did you check with the Meriden police? Was wondering if they would be able to tell you if any events are taking place that day that may impact our ability to meet there.

No word from Lime Rock e-mail but if people belong to AAA they can check out discounted tickets through them.

I have a number for Hubbard Park so I will call them this week to see if there are any activities planned for that day, however, even if there are I don't believe they will be at 9:00 AM. We will be leaving around 11:00 AM so we should be out of there before the park starts to get full. I did not plan to call the police department because our police friend didn't think this was necessary.

Do you know what time the action starts at Lime Rock?

I don't think this will be a problem with the police, and I don't think that parking will be an issue. The park is fairly large.

Agree, we should leave by 11 or so.

Lime Rock gate opens at 7:30am and racing starts around 9:00am. I tried calling about tickets but got nobody. I will try tomorrow. Worst case, you pay $20 a person. Groups over 25 people, I believe, get $5 off the ticket price. I just have to confirm and will need to find out how we go about getting the discount. You can also get tickets through AAA.

Thanks Greg. Keep us posted. I emailed you a copy of the flyer I finished. Let me know what you think so that we can start formally announcing this meet.

I plan on driving up from Boston, will you release some sort of directions or maybe a road or address or something so I can map my way there?

We've pretty much made all of the final decisions and I have a flyer which has directions. I will be posting all the information tomorrow night (I will be attending the NY mini meet during the day).

Look forward to seeing you.

Glad to see you used the link. There will be a "caravan" of cars coming from MA so you're welcome to join us. That way, if we get lost, we can still have our own little party in the middle of nowhere.

Actually Victor if you could post the phone number and/or address of Hubbard Park (assuming that this is where we will initially meet) then those with navs would appreciate it. Thanks.

I'll get an address tomorrow, I have it programmed into my nav. Victor has a flyer, we're just working on getting it posted.

Victor, I'll bring some flyers to the mini meet tomorrow.

When are you planning on heading down? When exactly is the mini meet?

Andrew, it starts at 10:30 AM. I think it will take less than 2 hours to get there. We could meet at 8:00 AM somewhere if it's ok with you. Let me know where to meet you since I will be coming south.

By the way, ctgoldwing will be hosting for us the flyer. I have the link which I will post when we officially announce the meet. That was very nice of him.

Let me know where to meet you.

Sounds like a plan, just keep me posted and I'll join the "caravan"

No problem. Please send me a PM with your email address and I will attach a copy of the flyer.

Hey Tim, there are quite a few people interested in joining your caravan. Are you organizing it or is mysteriumZ doing it? The reason I'm asking is I am getting responses from NY members that want to come with you guys and I am not sure who to refer them to.

Scott, I just realized, you have to come! You have a Brickyard and that's the only color I noticed is missing from the members that so far have said they are coming.

You would complete the color spectrum.
