Why are they asking for insurance. We are not a club or organization just a bunch of people with similar cars. Isn't this a public park open to all? I'd blow off the insurance. What do they expect it to cover anyway? We all are responsible for ourselves. If everyone acts responsibly, there should not be an issue. The last time I went to a park nobody asked if I had insurance to visit!
This park ranger must not think it is a priority either if he keeps blowing us off.

Hey guys, what’s up?
Haven't heard from you guys for quite a while, I trust all is well. I lost my cell phone and all your telephone numbers with it on my last business trip; my number is the same, please call me.
First off any city or private owned property, will expect appropriate behavior for gatherings with or without self-insurance. The Insurance requirement is usually in case of an accident and or-mishap; as the city, in this case does not wish to be solely responsible for anyone attending getting injured, including public spectators.
It is a pain but believe you me, in this litigious society people will crawl out from the wood work and sue you for anything. I see this regularly, as I am in risk management, myself. I handle law suits from people who slip and fall in front of our buildings and on our properties, ice or no ice. A couple of dog bites on our property, by stray dogs, but the fact that it happened on the property you own, you are responsible; and other more serious risk. You'd be surprise but some of these law suits could rack up millions for defence and/or settlements.
Most of these areas, such as city parking and city recreational spots do have insurance coverage for the public, but when it applies to a group larger than……, usually there is a number, above which insurance coverage is required from the organized group.
It does not hurt talking to the park ranger if a particular spot is desirable, as there maybe ways to work around such issues. Another option, our club ZGCA might be able to do something to get this meet going, as we do have some capital for such things and I may be able to work something out with the vendors we use, on passing the risk on. I may just need some specifics for the meet.
Greg, please call me.

No apologies needed.
You have your personal obligations to attend to; and that is the priority. Remember that stage II engine and the TT you were dreaming of you will need that paycheck
Our support is to attend the meet.
Cheers man! It has got to be fun, or else
