sanding wouldn't get any dirt or oil out of the little cracks between the texture. did you use any type of degreaser? or just the light sanding.

3M makes scotchbrites (scuff pads) that are basically just the scuff pads you use on dishes but made for automotive use. buy the gray ones that are equal to about 800 grit so no worries of sand scratches under the paint. and the scuffing isn't for dirt and oil, it is for adhesion of paint, you want to use a good plastic cleaner for the dirt that is made to be used with the type of paint you are using, and you should really use some type of plastic adhesion promoter as well, i know with dupont paint we have PlaStick which is this green stuff you spray on right before you go to town on it and it works flawwwwlessly.

nope just a light sanding. also before i applied the base i used adhesive promoter

i got mine done 2 weeks ago... despite telling him 3-4 times he failed to sand the piece before painting it

so now i have a silver unsanded piece, which all in all doesn't look too bad, but still not what i wanted. oh well, hows yours holding up?
