Default Donation to Victor Thread

As some of you may know, I had the bright idea of trying to collect some money at the 7/12 CT Z Meet so that the group could buy something nice for Victor. Many people contributed to the success of the meet, but without his (and his wife's) significant investements in time and money, that meet never could have gotten off the ground, much less become the biggest 350Z meet to date in the USA. My thoughts were that if enough people donated a few bucks, we might have enough to buy something like a Borla exhaust. Unfortunately, the best ideas frequently fall apart during the act of execution. I never really found the time to individually ask the 70+ members who attended. Of those I did approach and who gave up some hard earned cash, I'm very grateful. While we may not have collected enough to buy an exhuast, we may have enough to help further convince Victor to plan another meet next year.

I'll list the members who contributed.

Rick (Spyder)
Zpeed350
Roger (anyone2u)
Jeff
DaytonaBlueBO
Steve (ZthDr)
Terry (Mapleleaf)
GeeBoy
Wayne (MysteriumZ)
My apologies if I somehow missed somebody or if I have spelled your name incorrectly.

Again, thank you to all the members who attended. Victor, I'll get this money to you at our next meeting.

I heard you talk about this somewhere here, but never heard anymore.

Where do I send something. I know how much work this is. They must have spent a pretty penny making up all the print and well, everything was super! I know because I do a lot of these things for our Chambers of Commerce's. Man is this work!

So where do we ALL send a little something to not only cut these great people's costs, but add to the pool for the next meet.

Come on people, lets all throw in a few and then we will all have more fun real soon!

Hmm, I think many of you have misunderstood the point of this post. I am NOT trying to get more contributions. This thread was really to simply thank those that had already done so. At the point of generating this idea, I was not aware that Victor was going to have a 50:50 raffle. While I'm sure he didn't recoup any significant percentage of his expenditure, it probably helped a little. I'd like to thank all of those who gave to that.

I was just hoping that we could get him a little something. As it turns out, that little something will be simply some cash, which is fine.

I really do not expect anybody else to want to make a donation at this time, but if you're really interested, PM me.

Believe me, I'm very humbled by this kind gesture. I really never expected anything in return for putting the meet together. The 50/50 raffle was an idea another member suggested and I was very happy with how it turned out. Someone walked away with a nice prize and we were able to recoup a little money. All in all it was a win/win.

I am looking forward to next year's meet. I can only imagine seeing more cars, roadsters, superchargers, and maybe even a twin turbo 350Z (wouldn't that be sweet).

Let's continue the get togethers for this year. The summer is moving by quickly and we have the August meet in NJ and, hopefully, one last big one in the fall in MA.

Thank you all again for the generosity.
Vic

Hey Vic? Are you that independently wealthy that we can't help cut the cost for a weekend that I will never forget? I still have not stopped giggling at the site of all those Z's in front of us and behind. You made my year along with ZchickZ.

Thanks, Lady Z

I am by no means wealthy but I got alot of help for this meet. One of our members is now working on copying the DVD's. He went to a place to get a price to make copies and they wanted $50 for the first copy and $20 for each additional copy (yikes!). That's a problem especially since we want about 100 copies. Believe it or not, because of this, he went out and purchased a DVD burner so that he can copy them himself. This is very tedious as he has to copy one at a time and this is done by recording the DVD as it plays in another DVD player. This is one great 350Z enthusiast! I'll ask him if I can post his name as he definitely should be recognized for the effort he is putting forth for all of us.

As much as I wanted the DVD's to be free, I can't expect all this effort and expense for free so there might be a small fee for it. I'll let everyone know what this will be as soon as he runs a few copies over the weekend and tells me that everything is OK.

Default DVD Copies

Looks like I'm going to need some help with the copies. I am getting the master back sometime this week and I have no way of making DVD copies.

As I am a novice when it comes to this stuff, I never realized how expensive it can be to make DVD copies. I was hoping to be able to make free copies to hand out or send to everyone that attended the meet but I don't think this will be possible unless one of you has great contacts and/or deep pockets.

I am willing to send my copy to whoever feels they can duplicate it easily and economically. Please let me know what you think it would cost to be able to make say 100 copies. If there is going to be a charge for the discs I would like to post a separate thread advising how much it would cost and see how much interest there would be before making you go through alot of work.

Thanks.

Default DVD Copies...

Hey Vic,

Where's Lentronic's? Is he still with us here? Did he come to July 12th? I didn't get to meet him if he did.

Can't he help us with the DVD? I thought he was the video guru. Or maybe he can turn us on the someone who can. Or how about picking Mac Guru mind???

What we need is to contact these guys and see if they can just turn us on to the right person. Networking!!! I know about that!

I'll be happy to help; all you have to do is to reimburse me for the cost of the blanks. Shouldn't be too much of a problem, as I have a twin turbo system so to speak.

Generic brands is approximately 200 DVD-R @ $160 to $200, case would be additional. I would say about $5-$10 for anyone interested in the DVD, money collected minus the cost could go into the pool for our next meet.

I could pick up the master from you or anyone in Connecticut?

Let me know if you're interested.
