XX TUNING
Don't know much about them, but I know they are expensive. I called around for quotes to get springs & struts installed and XX was the 2nd most expensive. Only ICS (Stamford) was more. I *think* their specialty is Supras?
I took a ride up there on Monday with my cousin to drop his car off. I was speaking to the owner and he gave me a great price on a custom single turbo set up. They had a yellow g35 that had this same setup on it GT35R, their kit looks like the Powerlab kit. They also had their own prototype twin turbo kit for the HR motor. The shop is like the size of 20 speed worlds put together.

Had the bra done on my Z there. I got a tour from one of the fabricators. I forgot his name, but I can say that he sure as hell knew what he was doing. Some of the custom cages he showed me were awesome.
I know them well as i lived close by. First off they are very expensive, second they did my chip tune & window tint. Overall im not impressed by their work and they seme to have a high turnover as the guy who did my tune left shortly there after. If your in NY and want a really reputable shop let me know. Performance Outfitters in Stamford now does all my work exclusivly. they deal with high end cars and last time i was there they were gutting a brand new V12 ferrari to do a full carbon fiber interior and engine tune. Needless to say this is not a place for kids.
Where are these guys located in Stamford? I have lived in Stamford for 15 years and never heard of them. I personally do my own work but can’t hurt to know a good local shop. I'm in the process of a turbo build for my 350z.
i cant say much for my own personal expirences there, since i have never had any work done at XX. My friend purchased a PAR transmission off of them, which i installed for them since they wanted a fourtune to install, (which is only a 2.5 hour job on a wrx). I went in there once and spoke to the owner, wasnt too impressed with customer service, but prices on the parts werent too bad. Altho my Z had something done there at one point, because it has residue from XXTUNING decals on the front bumper that the previous owner must of had on there. I'm guessing all he had done there was the tint job.
A good tune shop thats right down the road from them is Victor Research, they are an awesome place to go for dyno tuning and usually cut a pretty good deal. I went with my uncle when he had his cobra kit car (gt40 crate motor, fuel injected, and a vortec supercharger) dyno tuned there with the AEM stand alone, which goes for $285/hour to tune, we were there for 6+ hours getting it tuned, (we got it to idle before we got there, thank god) and they only charged us $585 for the work and cut us a deal on a better fuel pressure regulator. Victor Research is mostly a DSM/EVO shop, but has a good dyno and a good crew that know their game.

They did the stereo build and upholstery work in both of our shop cars over a year ago, we are really good friends with those guys over there.

What type of work are you looking to have done? I have heard mixed things about them. I had thought about having them tune my Utec after I went FI but went to MRC in NJ instead -
If it is something pretty straight forward I'm sure they can handle it. If it's something specific to a z/g like tuning take to someone who works on them almost exclusively. Often it's cheaper to pay a little more an hour to someone who's familiar with it then less to someone who will be learning from your car.
I had heard that Victor Research closed.... those guys were pretty cool - tuned my DSM and did a decent job -

FYI. Eternal Motorsports bought XX Tuning back in September of 2008. Eternal Motorsports is a fabricating shop, and does small parts manufacturing of their own turbo kits, downpipes and what not. XX Tuning is their retail end now, as well as their dyno tuning facility. From what I heard, they used to be big with the Subaru guys, but since the new owner came in, they do Nissan/Infiniti, BMW, and all sorts of crazy domestics, as well as full blown race cars. They did a custom turbo on my cousin's 540 BMW. It looks NUTZ!
