Everyone should drive down Monday instead and roll in Tuesday.

 

I might do that -- but I don't have a place to stay until Weds night. There would also be a ton of traffic on Monday. I could possibly leave Monday, stay overnight in VA somewhere then continue down on Tuesday.

 

I did not realize that Monday was memorial day way back when I made plans. Once I get past New York it should be ok. I hate driving through the city, it is such a pain.

Yeah I did that last year. on the way down, and tried to do it at night on the way back. Ended up on the wrong deck of the GW bridge that was EZ pass only.

I'm really open as to when I can go. We have a place booked from Wednesday - Sunday. I like the idea of splitting the trip up into 2 days.

 

Thats what I did last year, Wednesday to Sunday, and drove down Tuesday and the first have of Wednesday morning.

 

I will be rolling down with the PFM crew.

 

Anyone leaving on Friday morning? Doing a lot of traveling this year and I don't want to use the two extra days vacation days to make it there by Thurday Morning.

Mike (zmazing) and I went last year as rookies and I can tell you guys, it is worth the long drive to get there. The event, the people there, the driving - every single one of us who went last year were dieing to go back ever since the day we left.

If you are on the fence, do it! You will not be disappointed.

 

I definitely agree. Last year was my 1st year as well, and even with the rain it was still amazing. I can not wait to get back there this year.

Anyone driving from central NY? its my first zdayz and i cant wait..Im planning on leaving thursday early am straight down 81...would like to meet up with anyone...also can those of you that have been there, any pointers on roads to avoid?

+1 to what davids said. If you are on the fence, go. You will not be disappointed. I wouldn't drive THAT far if it wasn't worth it.
