Last year we avoided Knoxville on the way down, but went through on the way back. The place was DEAD on Sunday morning, but the detours were a PITA. I don't know if they are still having the construction, but I am going west instead of east again on the way down.
Mike (zmazing) and I went last year as rookies and I can tell you guys, it is worth the long drive to get there. The event, the Louisiana guys, the driving - every single one of us who went last year were dieing to go back ever since the day we left.

Hi 350.
I am rolling down by myself on Tues afternoon/evening to Harrisonburg VA and spending the night there -- unless someone else here is heading down around the same time. Davids is going to meet me there Tues evening. We will continue the trek into TN/NC on Weds morning, hopefully be at Fontana by 4-5 ish. Are you driving strait through? If you are I would highly advise you do it ALL during the daytime. The last place you want to be driving is on The Dragon at 9 PM at night on a road you don't know. It is pitch black and by that hour, usually foggy as hell.
The people that are going are all pretty chill. Like I have told others who are wary on attending meets -- usually the as$holes don't show up at meets. It is a great group all around.
I am not sure when the Jersey group is leaving. Check out their website at www.projectfowardmotion.com. Cool guys, spent some time with them last year and they even waited for myself and davids too catch up with them in NC last year and we rolled in together.

We're leaving on wed night thurs morning, two of us so far and looks like a third one is joining in... Edit- we're heading down 81 all the way I was just told..

Its my third time to Dragon...but my first attempt to do it in one shot ... I may take you up on the nightime stop.

Holiday Inn Express in Harrisonburg VA is where we are staying. I think you can get two beds for $89 w/ taxes.

Ouch bad time to leave lol. Traffic is going to be horrible I bet (esp going south). Tues afternoon should be decent -- I will be through the tri-state area well before rush hour and there isn't anything on I78/81 in VA.
I am hoping that If I leave early enough I will miss boston traffic. Once i get past the city (NY) i think it will be pretty smooth.

The PFM caravan will be heading down on Thursday. We'll be starting out from the Chesapeake House Rest Area (near DE/MD stateline) at 6am.
