Default International Z Car Convention...

Is anyone out there going to the International Z Car Convention in Nashua, New Hampshire next week?

A lot of Nissan Big-wheels are coming over from Japan.
Mr. K is already in the United States and is resting up before heading for New Hampshire (give him a break...he's 94yrs. old !)

There's a caravan originating in San Antonio. Going up to Dallas and meeting the Arkansas Club in Nashville. They'll be picking up cars all along the way. By the time they get to Albany, New York (where the last club is supposed to meet up with them), it should be pretty sizeable !

As usual...it should be a HOOT !

I would love to participate in the convention, however, I am up to my neck with work deadlines. Initially, I was planning on going up on Friday; but if I can swing it I might trying getting in on Wednesday.

Man,
that would be a shame for you to miss the convention, especially with it being so close to home for you !

It will be interesting to see how many 350Z's show up.
I've noticed an elitest attitude amoung some of the new owners.
We went through this same attitude when the Z32's ('90-'96) first came out. After a while, they realized that they were all part of a much bigger family.

Just ask your insurance agent...after a couple of years, to him it's just another used car

Hope you get a chance to make it...it should be fun !

Oh man,
this party is right in your back yard. It would be a real shame for you to miss it. (in Texas, anything within a 5 hrs drive is "right in your back yard"

All the information (with a contact point for questions) is at:

www.zcca.org

There is information about the convention and information about any Z Club in your area...heck, we've even got information about the do's and don'ts of starting a Z Club.

Tell Paul G. that David M. from the Z Club of Houston sent ya !
Hope you can make it.

I know, it is absolutely depressing........however, the means to feed Zee toy takes utmost precedence; such is reality.

I am not sure if I understood your reference to the "elitest attitude".

...by elitest attitude, I have run into many occassions where the owner of a new Z wouldn't acknowledge the presence of an older Z....like the new Z was above socializing with the older Z owners.
It really bites...because I'm in it for the fun, not the attitude.
You kinda expect that from a Ferrari Owner (gosh...I hope you don't have a Ferrari), but not with a Z Owner.

There are even examples where rather than join an existing Z Club in their area, they would rather start their own "exclusive" club. My thought on that...why try to re-invent the wheel?

It's all about the brotherhood (or sisterhood) of the Z !

Dave, my observations are a little different. Some people aren't used to the attention that these cars bring. I was supprised to see how many people do double takes when I drive by. At first it was embarrissing but now I am used to it. And I wave to anyone now. I found that some older (280z etc) owners wouldn't acknowledge me either so it goes both ways. I guess if you never had a Z before there is a kind of etiquette that you have to learn that you don't really need in a Cherokee.

Oh,
I DEFINATELY agree that it goes both ways. A lot of the older Z Folks won't wave either (jealousy is a terrible thing)...and I didn't mean to imply that all 350Z Owners have an attitude (although there are a few...and you know who you are).

I remember 100yrs ago, when I was a young lad (O.K. you've figured me out...I'm an old fart), my parents bought a Volkswagen Bug. It was a lot of fun how, when you went down the road, other bug owners honked and waved (of course, today, that kind of action might get you shot by someone who's not having a really great day )

I think it all boils down to what Mr Katayama meant when he said: "Life's a journey...enjoy the ride !"

P.S....are you going to the convention?

If you saw the Datsun 1500 SSS you'll all snub me then, but in the seventies it was one hot puppy

The bad news... I'm working this week

The good news... I'm working this week

I'm trying to get a day off (perhaps Thursday) to come out and see the guys. I think that Wednesday night at the NE Dragway might be fun as well. We will see how it goes.

Hey,
I've got a 1600, and while it's not real fast, it is real cool.
Fact is, I bought it on eBay It was in Maine and I had it shipped down here to Texas (I'm right on the Gulf Coast). The guy that I bought it from told me that it starts right up, no matter how cold it gets.
I couldn't help but bust-out laughing. Our average winter temp. runs about 55.
I told him keeping it cool in the summer might be more of a concern. I've had it two years now, and not one over-heating issue (knock on wood).

Man, I remember when that 1500 was the hot ticket.
It's fun to go to autocross'es and watch that 30+ year old technology kick butts and take names !!!

Heuge,
hope you can make it out for at least one day to see all the cool cars.
I know exactly what you mean...I'm sorry to hear you're working, but then again, I'm glad to hear you're working. I've got a good friend who just lost his Honda S2000 for that reason...
sad, sad, sad situation.

Hey Heuge, are you going to Ogunquit on the 11th? I am trying to see if Roger can pull a bunch of you guys together for the ride up. Did you find a new home yet?

Dave, I can't make the nationals either. But if you guys have some time on your way home, there is an Ogunquit meet in Maine. It is at the Norseman hotel on Ogunquit beach. It is being put on by the G35 guys from freshalloy.com. I know you are a long way from home but if you can make it for a couple of hours that would be great.

Whitetrack,
sure do appreciate the invite. Wife wants to go visit some distant relative that lives in Vermont while we're up that way.
I'll try my best to talk her into swingin' by.... on one condition.
You've got to promise not to laugh at me when I come screaming into the parking lot in that wild Chevy Cavalier Rent-a-wreck !

Notice you're no longer a newbie....what does it take?

Dave, you mean you didn't drive up? I heard there were a bunch of Texans that drove up. I bumped into a guy that said he had lunch with them. Come in the cavalier we can always say it was a proto type G35.

You can edit a profile option that calls you a newbie after 70 posts.

Not to show my ignorance (like I care *grin*), but is the car next to the new racing 350Z a 1500/1600?

OK, planning on doing the road rallys tomorrow since it's probably too late to sign up for the AutoX and I am too chicken to run the Track course.

Anyone have details on times for departure/location for departure for the road rallys. The web schedule is not very detailed.
