Default Applying for a New York State License..

I heard someplace that when you transfer your license from whatever state your in to New York, the points don't transfer with it. Is this true?

You're not looking hard enough...

From the previous link.

Insurance Company Points and Out-of-State Violations

Insurance companies have point systems that are different from the DMV driver violation point system. The two point systems are not related. Contact your insurance company about their point system.

Except for Ontario and Quebec, points are not added to your NYS driver record if you commit an out-of-state traffic violation. Points can appear on your NYS driver record if you commit a traffic violation in Ontario or Quebec.
I wouldn't worry about it unless you have points from either of these two locations.

Information About My Old Driver License Identification Number from Another State
Question
I surrendered my out-of-state driver license to the NYSDMV. How can I get the identification number that was on the driver license that I surrendered?
Answer

To get information about your out-of-state driver license, contact the state that issued the driver license. The NYSDMV does not keep the information about your out-of-state driver license on your NYS driver record.

If you cannot get your driver license identification number from the other state, get a copy of your application for your NYS driver license. When you apply for a driver license in NYS, the DMV requests that you provide the identification number from your out-of-state driver license. Check the application to see if your previous driver license identification number is listed there.

You can use form MV-15 (Request for Driver and/or Vehicle Record Information) to request a copy of your application for your NYS driver license.

With that being said if your license is suspended or revoked in another state you obviously will not be able to obtain a NYS drivers license.

Fawk..I called, and the NYS DMV said that my points wouldn't be transferred.

But my record still would. (The actual violations).

Looks like I'm gonna have to suck it up and pay those $360 premiums..
