PA insurance claim question
Hey guys, got a question regarding PA car insurance.
The story: My girlfriend was backed into this morning by some stupid c**t. Damage sounds to be very minor but might need fixed upon inspection. My gf got the other person's information and her insurance policy number, etc. Police were not called (I think she should have called, but she didn't, and I didn't feel like telling her how she should have done it better). My gf spoke to the other person's insurance claim people and explained the situation.
Question: If we find that there is damage that requires repair and we get the other person's insurance to pay us for the repair, does that "claim" show up anywhere under my gf's name so that our insurance company would find it and possibly adjust our rates?
In other words, do insurance company policy underwriters (in PA, if it makes a difference) only look within their own claims records when reviewing your rates, or are claims filed thru other insurance companies involving your name visible across all insurance companies?

I believe insurance companies share accident information with other companies. I'm sure they will find out about the claim, but whether that will raise your rates is entirely up to your insurance company.
only a claim paid from your insurence carrier will afect rates, claims paid to you would not be able to be seen by other carriers, now if you switch companies and have a quote done on the car they will see that a claim was paid and they will try using that when measuring the value of the car, pa is a at will state which means you can have has many quotes you want and you may also accept the shop you go to stay away from anywhere they recommend, i have an awesome shop here in philly pm and i'll send info
