I know we have a list of shops but what makes one stand out from another.

Let's keep names off this thread so feelings and arguments are avoided

What do you want in a shop ?

DEAL but we did have 60 people look and not answer...I guess everyone is happy every time they walk in a shop.

 

I would just like the shop to handle my car with the white glove treatment they would give to their own cars (going under the assumption that most take care of them very well). And just take credit when they screw up or cause harm, just be honest and make it right and take care of it honorably.

 

Flexibility and transparency.

Some people like to work on their own cars and would very much like to know what is going into their car and what is being done to it. I'd appreciate it if they didn't put cheap parts in my car. If they told me they were going to do that, I would shell out a bit more money just to get something that won't die on me a few miles later.

It would be nice if some shops let you help out/observe but I know a lot of them don't due to insurance reasons.
