Default Nice hotels in center city Philadelphia - recommendations?

Hey all, I'm planning a "special" night in Philly for my girlfriend and I and would like to get a room in town overnight. Looking for something classy with a great view of the city. Some sort of rooftop access would be sweet too. I've lived in Philly suburbs my whole life, but never stayed in a hotel down there so I really don't know what's good. Any first-hand reviews would be appreciated....thanks!

I haven't stayed in any Philly hotels, but Sofitel and Palomar are newer more modern hotels. Both are located near Rittenhouse Square which is probably the best place to stay. I don't know if any Philly Hotels have roof decks or roof access.

Ok cool. I checked out both of their websites today. Sofitel looks really nice as does Palomar, but the latter looks to be super art-deco.

The Loews Hotel looks cool and seems to have nice corner rooms with awesome views, but I read some bad reviews about poor service, lack of hot water, etc. I'm looking for a place that has great views and staff, and can set up a room with a nice bottle of champagne, maybe some roses, etc.
