Hi Guys,
i just found out from the Z Club in syracuse there is gonna be a very small show for nissans and miatas inside the Burdick Village in North Syracuse..August 28th ..noon till 3...no judging or trophys or anything like that...so if anyone wants to come by and check it out!...that would be great..again this is a joint venture between the Z club and the miata club of syracuse..i think you have to be a member of one of those clubs to show your car...

Ok so in the 40s today and supposed to be in the 50s tomorrow (Rochester). Talk about a tease. Fairly salt free roads (a couple of rains) but the driveway where I store my Z is all ice. Damnit!! Probably for the better. Hopefully only another month of this crap...

The roads are in pretty **** poor shape here in the Capital Region!.. I will wait till early to mid May before I take my Z out. Man I hate tar... With the economy the way it is, I am curious to see what quality the road repairs will be. I am usually an optomistic guy but I fear the roads this year will be CRAP...! Lots of pot holes and heaving going on around here.

Last year all of the roads were tore up and repaved so hopefully this year can be a fun year. I didn't even want to drive my car on some of the highways last year due to the construction. Last season was so mild I had mine out near the end of March. It was awesome. Not gonna be so lucky this year. Hopefully early April

Last week was such a tease. 50deg+. I couldn't help it. I had to take the car out. It rained enough to clean the salt off the roads. Now it's back in storage till this cold spell goes away. Worst part about it...I just got my Pop Charger and Berk HFC dropped off at my house. I need it to warm up a little so I can put them on and then enjoy the new exhaust music

Endicott, NY here.
I always kept my 350Z out of the salt, but after 8 years, and a total of 10K miles, I think I may start driving it year round.
I need to get wheels, and I think Bridgestone Blizzaks. I'm thinking the Tire Rack. What size do you suggest, and does it do well in snow and ice? Thanks, -- Dave

The only issue with driving it in the snow is it is low. You'll end up plowing deep (more than 3") of snow. Good snow tires will get you moving and stopping but your front end is going to get pelted with salt, rocks, etc.
I know it sucks not having it for 6 months out of a year but at least it stays pretty and your low mileage results in higher resale value or longevity of ownership.
It's your car and you'll do what you want but I thought about driving it this past winter and a few of those snow storms would have had me either sleeping in my car, walking home, or stuck in my house.
Just my 2 cents...

John,
Thanks for your thoughts. I forgot about the ground clearance issue, that could be a problem, for sure. Some years ago, people mentioned using Blizzaks on all 4 corners, and I was wondering what recent experience has shown. -- Dave

I haven't done it personally but I have friends who have driven similar cars in the winter with Blizzaks and they didn't have issue. The clearance only comes into effect if your street doesn't get plowed or during a snow storm. The other 70-80% of the winter its just the salt and stones.
