Default Valentine 1 installed in Rear view mirror, you want?

Anybody want to have a V1 radar display installed in their mirror? I know a really great (and very well known) shop in NY that can install this in your 350Z. PM for details.

Here is a pic

Default V1 in mirror

Wow,

And they only want $2150.00 for it. Of course they will take off $400.00 if you supply you own V1.
(Price quoted from PM)

I wish them luck at that price.

Default Price

I have come to find out that the install described by Reggi914 includes a lot of extra labor time and what amounts to some very serious install from one of the leading audio shops in NY.

Based on two different V1 installed and different places on the car. Not sure how if works but it sound very complicated.

See ya.

WOAH...way overpriced. Labor is not THAT much. Call up our boys at streeteffectz at 732-388-7000. I bet they'll do an equal quality job for less than that. They're in NJ.

Most mirrors have it on the right side, this is on the left. That alone takes about five more hours of labor. Other places build them in cheap mirrors. This place takes YOUR mirror and builds it in there, again this is many more hours or labor. Then there are the radar sensors at the front and rear of car and wiring. Takes about 2-3 days depending on the type of car. I can speak to them and see if they have some cheaper version or if they can sell just the mirror. I will keep you guys updates. Thanks Brickydz.

I hope you weren't serious with that price quote... BMW's have had this for a while for around $200. If it were that much or less I would think about it. Where did you end up mounting the V1 itself? Over the shoulder mount?

I have seen that BMW mirror and frankly, its sh*t. Its very low quality and the mirror is pretty damn ugly. The shop that i am talking about can sell the mirror for $850. They will put the phone jack at the back of the mirror so you can put the V1 any where you want (right above the rear strut bar is a very "stealthy" area to put it) and just run the wire to the jack.

Default Valentine Sensor Install?

Forgive me guys, I know this thread is ancient - but I am looking for some other ways to mount my V-1, and I even called them asking about the possibility of installing sensors on the front or rear of the car to get better reception. They told me unequivocally that this cannot be done with the Valentine One, because the unit is completely self contained. This quote tells me that someone found a way around this - if you have any more info, I would really be interested in hearing more....

Thanks.

They did not remove the sensors, they added a remote DISPLAY unit to the mirror. YOU CAN NOT USE REMOTE SENSORS WITH THE V1.

That is not entirely the case. I can see that is not what was done in this example. I am referring to the situation where folks have rewired the V1 and removed the sensors, mounting them elsewhere. Of course this voids the warranty, but I have heard it can be done. I also found a really sick device on mp3car.com that allows you to view the V1 display digitally on your car computer, so you can ditch the concealed display unit entirely. If that can be done, then so can this, but unless you are a "do-it-yourselfer", it wouldn't be worth paying someone to do because it would be extremely labor intensive.

Cite your sources on where you have heard of folks doing this please.

Also, you do realize that the circuit board has something to do with the amount of time in which the notification hits you? If you spread the cicuitry across 11 ft of vehicle and then route the visual display through a car PC and through a mobile LCD, you are putting yourself at great risk of getting a radar notification SECONDS after registering on your sensors. Quite elaborate considering the risk/benefit.
