350Z NW Summer get together
DONE! Let’s go for a drive.
Now we need to set a time to meet at the Mount St. Helens Visitor Center at Silver Lake located off of I-5 in Castle Rock, refer to park maps http://www.fs.fed.us/gpnf/mshnvm/
My suggestion is that all caravans coming from the Pac NW meet/greet there at 10AM:
- Less traffic the earlier we hit the roads.
- Guys/gals coming from areas as far as Anacortes and further should give them the opportunity to make it back home by dinner time at the end of the day. The downside; that means these folks might have to wake up way early to hit the roads.
- We’d probably make the Cold Water / JR observatory by noon, a good time to break for lunch and hang out.
If anyone else has an suggestions as far as times go, let’s hear ‘em.
We should also mention a couple of situations that will cause us to reschedule:
- If it rains that day. There’s no point in going for a drive like this if the roads will be wet.
- Since it’s about 2 weeks away, if there are any situations arise that may keep the majority of people interested from going on the 23rd.
- If Mt. St. Helens herself decides to call the event off. They haven’t closed off access to the JRO or the park since the last eruptions happened, but if there are closures due to volcanic activity then we’ll have to figure out something else.
Caravans:
- We’ll probably wanna have 2 or more. What areas are we looking at meeting at and who will be the focals so we can trade numbers?
- Rahtok, could you be the Seattle area focal?
- Who’s up to being the Portland area focal?
- What other areas are planning to caravan? Shout them out if you’re looking to hold one for your area.
Okay input: question, comments, suggestions?
Let’s get this verified and set in stone by Weds and start some caravan sign-up posts.
Keep referring to this post for further info and to ask any questions that you might have.
This should be fun.

Just a word to the wise: I was riding my bike in that area with a couple of "knee-dragger" buddies and the local law enforcement have increased their presence.......
Make sure you throw your Valentine in when you leave home!

10 am!?!?!
Good gravy. I also work the swing shift y'know. So that means that I get off work @ 11pm on Fri night and I have to leave 1 1/2 hrs earlier just to make it to the caravan in seattle. If I'm doin this, ain't no reason why anyone else can't and there'd better be a damn decent showing of northwest guys.
I'll try and time it so I can meet up with the Seattle group, so keep me posted and if I find anyone else around my area (even if they're not a member of the forum) I'll clue them in too.

Checklist:
- Plan to have atleast 1/3 of a tank before we leave the MSH Visitor's Center at Spirit lake for JRO. No gas past the 504 / 505 intersection.
- GMRS & FRS radio(s) - 5 mile range or better
- Drinks and lunch. Limited concession type facilities at Cold Water Ridge, so you can give that a shot if you'd like.
- Whatever comforts you need; smokes, sunscreen, etc..
- If you have 'em; radar detectors.
We'll stop at the visitor centers along the way up to JRO, probably 3 or so opportunites to use rest rooms, stretch the legs, and hang out a bit.

Hey, guys. I'm pretty darn new here, but got this information from Steve C. Thanks, Steve for keeping me up to date on this stuff. I'd love to make it, but I have a golf tourney that day until about 12:30 pm, which means I wouldn't be able to leave town until about 1:30, and since I'm about 4 hours away I can pretty much call this off.
I'm going to be more of a regular on this board, so I hope to meet you all soon. Have fun on the trip, post pics when you get back!
thanks,
jeff

FYI: Keep an eye on this post for any announcements. I was checking out the extended weather forecast predictions. No real way of knowing what the weather is going to be like at this point so keep an eye on the forecasts and this post.
Hey, just out of interest, are there gonna be any nastily angled entrances or speed bumps ... this new Greddy bumper is now giving me a whole 3 1/4 inches ground clearance at the front .... the new JIC's are gonna fix this so let's hope that I can get them on by the 23rd ....
On the upside, my car looks aggressive as hell now .....

I don't recall there being any steep driveways, but there may have been some speedbumps in the parking lot. I can't recall though. Can anyone else that's been there recall?
