Default Portland Area Caravan to Mt. St. Helen's

Date:
Saturday, July 23rd

Time:
Meet @ 7:35AM
Leave @ 7:45AM

Location:
TBD. Bridgeport Village? (I-5 at exit 290). In front of the "McCormick & Schmit's (M&S Grill)" restaurant is probably the easiest.

Or perhaps somewhere near the Rose Garden right off of I-5. I can't really think of a good on/off exit to use though.

Post here if you think you can make it or even if you just have a suggestion on where to meet.

LMAO. I live and work so close to there it's too funny.

That works for me but since it's south of Portland, if we get more PDX folks to come they might complain that they have to drive south 10 miles.

I'm OK with it...let me see what others have to say. No complaints by tomorrow then let's do that.

A better "meeting place" might be the rest area just north of Battleground on I-5. It is just north of the exit for 179th (Clark County fairgrounds and amphitheater).

That would be about 10 miles north of the Interstate bridge...

Yeah, that would be better now that we have someone from SE and someone from Gresham.

You're racing that weekend and can't make it right?

Yes, the Packwood NT is that weekend, so I'll be going up against probably the cream of the national RX-8 drivers, not to mention the "Bauer effect" (or Stephen, for that matter) in Stephen's 968.

Also, the rest area is a good half-hour farther north, so you could probably leave there around 8:15-8:30 or so (it is north of the start of the 70 MPH speed zone).

You guys mind if I tag along in my scruffy old '90 na? If it's cool, since I live in Vancouver, I'll meet you at the Gee Creek rest area described in a post above. Any idea when you'll roll through?

You're absolutely welcome to join us! I'll have the finalized plans posted here by Wed/Thurs.

I think we might skip the Tigard location and just do the Rest Area in WA. I'd still like to meet there around 7:45AM though. I'll see what the SE and N PDX drivers have to say about coming down to Tigard.

MaximZ-
I thought this was decided. I told several people about meeting at Bridgeport.
I'd hate for them to show up at an empty parking lot. What's the latest?

Default Here Is The Plan!

Yeah, sorry for the confusion. We're still on for Bridgeport. Everybody but 1 person wants to meet there.

greydog - If you want to give me your cell # I can give you a call when we leave Bridgeport. We can then stop by the rest area to grab you. Should be around 15 minutes later.

THE LOW-DOWN:

* Arrive at Bridgeport Village @ 7:30AM. Park in front of the McCormick & Schmit's Grill.

* Leave promptly at 7:45AM. If you can't make it here in time, just go straight to the Rest Area.

* Stop at the first Rest Area in WA to pick up additional Z's approx 8:00AM. Leave immediately.

Looks like I can make it after all (yipeee).
Maxim-my cell # is 360 608 3003 if you want to call but I'll be at the Gee Creek rest stop waiting in the upper area by the rest rooms. I have a charcoal '90 na coupe.
