Default Oregon traffic violations -> points?

Hi!

I got my first speeding ticket and have no clue what I have to expect in Oregon:
Does Oregon have some sort of point system?
Do insurance rates go up based on number of tickets/incidents?
If you get 1 ticket on one occasion and it has 2 violations on it, does that count as 1 or 2 for insurance costs?

Do any of you know a good lawyer in the portland or suburbs area? Or do I need to find one in the county where the violation occurred (tillamook)?

Thanks for explaining all these things to me, I am new to this (moved here 3.5 years ago, but never had any ticket so far)

Yeah, and my ticket is pretty bad (93/55 plus careless driving)

And needless to say, I was driving the Z and it was absolutely safe (passing lane, me was the only car, just was so stupid to accelerate from ~65 because of the passing lane, and that was right in front of the cop)

Thanks !

I would just show up on your court date and try to get the fine reduced. You can probably plead it down to just a speeding ticket.

It does count as two tickets. You can check how it will affect your insurance if you use one of the online rate quotes and punch in your two tickets.

I thought we had a "three strikes-you're out" policy regarding moving-violations.

Yes, no points for Oregon, but if you get three tickets in a year, you're f'd.

Thanks for the answers!

One more thing, does Oregon provide traffic school, where you can pay your dues kind of thing?
I think in other states, if you go to traffic school you can avoid the bad points and undo your ticket sort of, but you are only allowed to take the traffic school once in 18 monthes.

Does that exist in Oregon?

Thanks!

Take it up with the judge when you go to court for the ticket. If it's your first offense in Oregon then worse case scenario he will cut your fine down to 75% of total. He may suggest a diversion program, too. But that's dependant upon the "offense..."

Good luck. Where did you get caught?

Thanks!

Well it was on HWY 6 going to Tillamook, ticket says MP16. (Right after a left turn a very long straight with passing lane, gravel parking to the left. Maybe slightly downhill. He was parked 90 degrees to the road on the gravel parking area pretty close to the woods and further away from the street. He was looking out his driver's side window. Very wide area, very good visibility.
