We got together last year and went for a drive up to Johnston Ridge Observatory. It might have gotten a little out of control, but I think everyone had a good time 'til the cops showed up. No one got ticketed (that I know of). "Spirited" driving is expected from a group of car enthusiats in fast cars, it's in our nature.

I doubt I'll go...with this many people (60+) on those tight roads that are packed with bicyclists, families, etc...there's bound to be issues. Especially since this is so far reaching between forums.
I don't mind driving with people I know...but I don't want to be associated with people I don't even know if something should happen.

Best of luck guys! Stay safe!

he's got a point. 60 cars going fast gets a lot of attention.. and is a bit chaotic

Agreed.

I am going to be leading and will maintain a safe speed. I have driven these roads hundreds of times in the past five years, so I know where the potential hazards are

Good idea. After all its a cruise, not a race.

Hmmm.... That quote sounds awfly close to the Gumball 3000's most notable quote; "It's not a Race, it's a Rally." And if you've seen the videos, you know what that's like.

Holy cr@p, 60 cars?!? I can understand Dr. Volkl's concern; all it takes is one or two guys to spark some 'octane spirited' mischief. I'm w/ Dr. Volkl in saying if it becomes something that grabs the attention of the authorities, I don't want to be associated w/ it.

All I can say is that we had an NSX drive up there with 20-30 cars and it was pretty packed. We had mostly NSX's and S2000s...but there were also a couple Ferraris, a 350Z, STI, EVO and even a Civic SI.

You'll never guess who the biggest trouble maker was.....the 575. Seriously, even though everyone said "this is a cruise" etc etc, it still turns into something else. If I were you guys, I'd just stay in a "Z" group and perhaps follow the larger group up there, hang with em, but if it gets stupid, just pull off on your own.

I absolutely agree. I think we should cruise in a 'sub-group' of Z/Gs. A pack of Zs and Gs on a cruise is pretty fun already. Part of the intent of a 'cruise' is the homogeny of cars going at the same speed, in a caravan-like fashion. Some of us are still breaking-in our cars (EFX) and shouldnt go too crazy. Regardless, it should be a fun outing.

So far:

Z's
1. Ron 06' DB-Z (stock)
2. David 06' AS-Z (stock)
3. Noel '03 CS-Z (SCCA BSP - in progress)
4. Steve '03 Reline Z Track (lightly modded)
5. Ross (rosscoe) 03 DB-Z (stock)
6. Kenny '06 IF-Z (BPU's) - Tentative
8. Peter (first350), '05 SB (nitrous)

G's
1. Cersoft 04' IP-G35C (TT)
2. Faizan (stealthninja296) '06 G35C (lightly modded)
3. g35cas
4. Hiro (ChiefyMan) '03 G35S
5. Ieva (Versus) '05 G35C

... oh, and "first350", wash your car before coming this time

I know, I know...at this point, it looks like I'll get a whole weekend off of work so I'll finnaly get a chance to clean her!

Hopefully I'll have time to re-fill my nitrous tank too!

this weekend should be great - no work, HIN on Saturday, a drive on Sunday, and we'll be almost 80% moved into our new house!

-Peter

I have no problem with you guys doing whatever you want and splitting off. I appriciate that you want to keep it safe - that is my #1 concern as well. There will be directions for everyone Sunday morning, to make it easy on anyone who would like to hang back from the main group, so we all end up at the same place. Here is a copy+paste update that Im putting on all the forums.
------------------------------

There have been some issues with having a lot of cars. The drive is going to have to be a bit slower paced then it could be with a smaller group. It's not going to be slow, but it will be safe. We are going to take some back roads up, including parts of I-5, highway 9, and 542. Reasoning - it's much less convoluted then going through Sedro-Wooley and straight up highway 9, PLUS its a more scenic drive and fun road to run. I'd highly encourage all the Bellingham guys to meet at Cascade Mall as we are too big to stop along the way. I am not going to post directions, I will have 150 copies of maps and directions printed up for you guys on Sunday morning. I have been way too busy recently to keep the lists updated like I keep promising, but Im sure everyone has the idea that there are going to be PLENTY of bad *** cars and cool cats. Im planning on staying at Baker for quite awhile in the main Heather Meadows lot, for lunch, and so people can run up to Artist's Point and stuff on their own (as we can't all go up at the same time, the parking lot up top is WAY too small!)
Please let me know of any questions you might have, and if I dont answer them, feel free to speak up Sunday morning.

Sam
